Just to clarify, this isn't concerning games that aren't already on GOG. I'm absolutely POSITIVE we have enough posts, and a wishlist page, dedicated to that subject. This is about your personal wishlist of games that you intend to buy.

As far as I can tell, there isn't a recent topic like this, but as far as I can tell, there's no way to organize search results by date... ?

Carrying on, most of you surely use the wishlist feature. Either you see a game you want to look into later, are on the fence about buying, intend to buy when you've played what you already have, or are simply waiting for a sale.

What games are at the top of your wishlist? Ok, physically, the game at the top of your list would begin with an 'A', or had been added five minutes ago, since you can only organize them by title and date added. ;)

What I'm really asking, is what five games are you most interested in? Feel free to elaborate further. Spill your whole wishlist and a seven page essay on why you want them, if you really want to.

Reasons:

I played Heroes of Might & Magic III in a demo disk I got in one of the few pc game magazines I ever bought. One demo disk had the Zork Trilogy. Those games aren't free anymore, but for a time they were. I lost that disk, unfortunately, but I backed the games up in a zip file and still have them. Anyways, I barely remember the game, but I played the HoMM3 demo constantly. Seeing the stellar reviews on this site, I'm more than a little interested to finally play the full game some time. I like to pay less than $10 for a game when I can, but it's not a deal-breaker. Still, I have plenty to play, so I may as well wait.

Rise of the Triad is a game I used to hear about from everybody at school. Eventually, I got around to playing the demo, and one day I found a copy at a thrift store. It taunted me by not actually working. I love old-school first-person action. I'm a simple guy. I enjoy stories and RPGs during the few minutes when I can actually focus and pay attention to what I'm reading, definitely, but my attention span is simply not what it used to be (I really wish it was, rereading the same sentences again and again really gets to you...), and there's something to be said of running around in rooms and corridors with cool 90's graphics and music, outstanding level design, and awesome weapons, all while killing anything that moves and searching for keys.

Blake Stone is another game I heard of from a few advertisements, but never played it. I've been hearing it's a lot like Wolfenstein with all sorts of ahead-of-it's-time features. I downloaded the demo and started playing it. Definitely good stuff! Can't wait to get it.

I want Might & Magic, since I played the first two a long time ago and never played the rest. Not sure how I'll like the other ones.

I had a friend with Betrayal at Krondor on his computer. It was a very popular game at the time as well. I never got to the end, but what I did play, I remember enjoying a good deal. I saw it on GOG, and it wasn't quite how I remembered it looking, since I barely remembered it, but I was already interested in getting it. Now they've added Betrayal at Antara (though I've heard little good about it, not that it matters), so that's even more incentive. That, and the winner of my contest, Arteveld, requested the game as his prize. Be sure to tell me how you like the game. I might have to move it higher up the list!

Funnily enough, the only one I want for nostalgia value is Freespace 2. The rest is because I quite like older games (less emphasis on graphics then the current generation), and I really want to try this lot (among others). The fact that they're far cheaper then current games and they'll actually run on my laptop and its shitty graphics card is a nice bonus too.

In no particular order:

Screamer - played it in the 90's and loved it, would be fun to play again.

Raptor: Call of the Shadows - see above. (^^,)

Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945 - haven't played this one but looks interesting, is it any good?

Might and Magic® 6-pack: Limited Edition - only played HoMM and I've been wanting to try these, and it's 6 games for 10$ after all.

The Incredible Machine Mega Pack - for nostalgic reasons and because I missed out on the 3rd one.

Third one is great. In fact, before this pack that was the only one I had ever played. It was very popular on the school computers in several schools, a good number of my friends had also only ever played the third one. It's funny, though. The computers at school didn't have speakers, so I never realized the series had sound or music. I was a bit taken aback when I heard it for the first time!

They're all really great, of course. It's not like they're radically different aside from puzzles. :P It can't be that shitty if it can run Psychonauts! My laptop has 16mb of video memory, overheats after an hour of use or 20 minutes of active use (i.e. videos, games, and DAMN does it get hot), and has no battery (often turns off when I move the cable too much, like, a centimeter), but, you know, it's a laptop and it serves it's purpose.

I use it for reading and testing things in short bursts, I have a desktop that's actually pretty good (it's enough to run TF2 well enough, anyways, but most importantly it's custom built). It'd be too much to ask for a good laptop as well, but still, mine's a hunk of junk just barely worth using! XD

It's decent enough I suppose, as it can run older games just fine. It's just that all the specs are actually quite good for a fairly cheap store-bought laptop, except the graphics card, which is a bit below average and the limiting factor in gaming capabilities by a huge margin.

Still, I use my Xbox 360 for all of my contemporary gaming needs so it's not like it's the end of the world.

Well, I'd say that explains why they were free (still, it can't be any worse than something from Dell). I use a Toshiba Satellite. I must say, apart from the graphics card, it's quite a nice machine and very reasonably priced too. Granted, it's only about six months old so any problems it may or may not have'll probably take a little longer to start giving me grief, but it's been pretty clear sailing so far.

Top 5? Wow, that narrows it down. I'll skip all the 'because they were awesome when I owned them and now digital,DRM free, and works on Win7'.

1. Sanitarium.
I love a good creepy game, I had this one and got to the first screen before something shiny distracted me and I never returned to it. With House on Haunted Hill and Thirteen Ghosts on my favorite movies list, I am an avowed lover of a good haunted crazy people place!

2. Gothic.
I missed this completely, and never really got into the European flavored (flavoured?) RPG games, but after playing Witcher I realized I had done them a dis-service. This series seems to be a good way to make up for that.

3. Aquanox 2: Revelation
Another type of game I enjoy, the psuedo-flight sim. Screw physics, I wanna dogfight in space, or in this case underwater. Playing through the first one now, and the quirky story is fun as well as the excellent way stuff blows up.

4. Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator
Another one that got installed and lost out to shiny objects. (The curse of being blonde, I guess). Looks like a fun little Japanese style RPG game, another genre I neglected to my detriment. I'm never going fanboi, but I can try to appreciate them for the art they are.

5. Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
Appeals to my gamerscore/completionist tendencies, so I want to get it and rescue every stinking Mudokon in the game. Then, the sequel as well.

Well, there are only 7 games in my wishlist as of now. But, my 5 priorities:

1) Betrayal at Krondor Pack

When BaK became temporarily free years ago, due to BiA being released I got it in a magazine I subscribed. Unfortunately, it was a buggy version and I never got to play it properly. Now is the perfect time. I still love the intro music.

2) Raptor: Call of the Shadows

Honestly, I played so much out of pirate copies of this game in the past that now I feel like buying it properly. This game deserves it.

3) The Journeyman Project 2

While I'd rather wait until all 3 are here (and dream of a PC version of the MAC/PS1 only Pegasus Prime), TJP is one of my favorite adventure series ever. I simply must own legal copies of it.

4) Ground Control + Expansion

Though I already own the free copy of GC and played through it, I still lack the expansion. So I think it's well worth it, but I'll wait until I feel like playing it again. I have a retail copy of the second game, but didn't play it through.

5) Driver: Parallel Lines

It's a GTA clone and I feel like I could have some real good fun with this one.

HoMM 3 for the win. One of the best games of all time, hands down.

4. Still Life - Really looks like an interesting adventure game.
5. Ghost Master - Cheesy looking box art aside, this looks like a fun and quirky game.

Ah, Dell. Probably the main reason I don't believe in not building a desktop computer. The first time I ever had to open a Dell, I thought it would be easy. When I finally figured out how to open it up and unto their insane mechanisms, among other things, I learned different. I like to fix computers up, and when somebody asks me to fix their computer, even if it's a Dell, I'd usually do it, and when I'm done, I'd proclaim "...I REALLY hate you, you know that? :|".

Yes, not everybody can build a computer, and shouldn't be expected to, but I always offer to build computers for people. I doubt most people would ever notice the difference, but it's so much easier to service when it's not some obscure OEM with drivers from an impossible-to-navigate site that may not even have them, when I actually have the manuals and part names without having to check, and the case isn't fort knox. Plus, you get a REAL cd of Windows, and not some OEM install that gives you a Yahoo toolbar, crud nobody will ever use, and the obscure drivers you need for your keyboards special buttons, the onboard graphics (should you have to use them), and various other things that don't seem to be on the flash-labyrinth of the official website anymore. XD

Once, only once, had I ever seen a modern IBM PC that had metal bars soldered over the ram. I was in shock. I'm not sure if it was Dell, in fact I doubt it, but you only need to see that once. It's a bright neon sign that just screams "We are the manufacturer, this isn't your computer, and you are our bitch. If you're REALLY intent on modifying it, you will know pain and suffering like none other. *cue Super Mario 64 Bowser laugh*".

I imagine some of them are better than others. Maybe they're better these days. Probably not by much. As for laptops, you don't have that luxury, but there's not much that can be done about that. They're more expensive, can't be built or properly upgraded, use their own special parts, and eat batteries, but it's usually worth it for the whole portable thing. :P
