Rockstar is made by god and win.

cw8: Mafia 2 is disappointing already compared to the first masterpiece.
That's why I act as if it doesn't even exist, like - Mafia 2? Yes, I'd like a sequel to Mafia more than anything. Nor will I count Max Payne 3 as a Max Payne game. But imagine going back 10 years and learning that Rockstar are making a Mafia or a Max Payne game xD

michaelleung: I haven't heard much about this game other than the launch - does Max still look like a drunk Bruce Willis?
yup

jefequeso: When MP3 was originally announced, I wasn't all that happy with it. It sounded like Rockstar was going to change some of the core aspects of the game, for no reason other than "because we can." A cover system, a main character that looked nothing like Max, and a setting more suited to Far Cry 2 than to a gritty noir drama.

But now that I've seen some footage and heard a little more about what they're trying to do with the game, I'm feeling a bit more convinced. The gameplay I've seen looks very much like that of the original 2 games, and it seems like it will be tying in the new setting with flashbacks to the rainy streets and leather jackets that we all know.

I know that there were a lot of people that felt the same as me when the game was announced. I was wondering if you too feel differently now?

da187jimmbones: If you don't mind me asking, what footage did you see and what did you hear about the game that made you change your mind? Everything I've read and seen makes it look like they are changing it from being a Max Payne game to a piece of crap modern shooter. He doesn't even look like Max Payne.
The gameplay trailer that they released. All the action they show could have come straight out of MP1.

From what iv'e seen, its seems pretty good tbh. I like the change of direction as i think the whole night time scene has been done enough. From what i gather with the trailers and some articals, is that Max is a drunk on his last legs and is on a personal mission to save someone as well as himself morally?.

If iv'e perceived this right then it's gonna be like man on fire, which will be fitting for Max imo.
So about Max's new look, I really don't care. People shave, boohoo.
And I also think the cover system does fit well in the John Woo-esque combat, the cover system was in the mod Payne Effects 3 and that fits in really well to me. So I wouldn't have a problem with it.

So I am sorta looking forward to it at this point.
Opinion? All "opinions" at this point are merely speculation based on a few trailers (picked by the developers).
Change of scenery? Cover system? Actual colors? All meaningless words at this point, until something playable is released. Or at the very least a decent length of actual uncut gameplay footage.

I'd sooner understand judging a movie based on trailers and previews, but an interactive game that's meant to be played? Nope.

Agreed.
I think it looks like a really awesome gunporn game, but Rockstar's track record is what concerns me. I've never really liked any of the GTA games and was a little let down by Red Dead Redemption, very much due to the wonky controls. They must have better controls in this one, surely. I mean it's Max Payne, it's all about smoothly controlled gunplay.

Umm... yes. That's the whole point.

We're allowed to speculate, you know -__-
To be honest... I preffer old Max Payne... this one looks like uncle Bruce in Die Hard...

Everything you have mentioned goes towards the 'feel and atmoshpere' of a game.

What we have seen has none of what I would expect a Max Payne game to have.

Personally, I'm in no way interested about this game.

Is it true the PC version wont be out til 2 weeks after the console ones???
Classic example of yet another decent video game series getting outsourced to some crappy third-party developer, to cater to a "mainstream" audience.

Goodbye dark and grim Max Payne, goodbye dream sequences, goodbye graphic novel cut-scenes.

Hello generic third-person shooter for the retards with low attention spans.
