Well it still doesn't work, they won't get it right if you don't want them to be trying :-P

Fenixp: ...they won't get it right if you don't want them to be trying :-P
Well, yeah. I don't much care if they get it right, since that's not what gaming's about for me anyway. Watching instead of playing, that is. I do however care if they get it wrong, cause that tends to result in the biggest waste of my time imaginably. The 30 seconds I've spent staring incredulously at the sub-sub-sub-softcore inanity that is Mass Effect's sex scene for example is a slice of my lifetime I've thrown in the fucking trash bin.

I'm open to the idea that I'm wrong, though. Maybe there are video game sex scenes just over the horizon that will enrich my life and convince me that the trash that's come before was worth it after all. Until then however I'll remain of the belief that game developers should work on what they and their chosen medium are good at.

You know as soon as they start opening up Steam and GOG to these kinds of games it will just be full of tentacle porn games. That's all anyone wants to see is weird alien sex., and anything else is just boring.

timppu: At the same time, I kinda hope they would tone down the sexual parts and stuff in other games. Games didn't use to be like that, not even PC games!
I have the same feeling about movies and TV Shows. You used to see a couple heading to the bedroom and the door closed. Now you see ten minutes of simulated sex while looking at your watch wondering does this show have a story.

I believe people looking for sexual games will find them outside of the mainstream services, and this is fair enough.
Porn games are fine and good as far as I'm concerned (though I wouldn't buy them myself, I'm married). The only ones I'd have a problem with would be the ones about rape, violent sex etc. They'd also have to be distributed in a way they don't get into the hands of minors. Other than that, yay.

There's definitely a difference between a sex scene and a sex scene, even though laws tend to handle them the same way. If I'd be a parent, I wouldn't want my teen kid to play a game with porn content, but I'd be fine with lovemaking scenes like the ones in Mass Effect. It's not just the amount of exposed skin that matters.

I thought that was the reason to buy porn games.

What does marriage have to do with your decision not to? That line of thinking seems archaic to me now. Working at a job where the majority of workers are female has shown me that girls really aren't any different than guys when it comes to lust and all of them seem to be fine with guys they're with looking at adult content since many admit to doing it themselves.

Zurvan7: lets face the fact that most gamers these days are teenagers.
According to a study by The Entertainment Software Association the average game player is 30 years old and has been playing games for 13 years. The average age of the most frequent game purchaser is 35 years old.

Tychoxi: It's actually very interesting. Most games out there are "look at these titties!" and "lol violence". Why more explicit sexual content is so outrageous is silly.
'murica

Seriously, rest of the world is rarely so nitty picky about these things.

Are there any regs in here that are teenagers? Now that I think about it most of the gamers I know (which granted isn't many) fit the 30-35 stat you just posted.

Nice link BTW. :D

I don't trust those stats. What platforms were they based on, how many data samples did they use, what genre of games did they based themselves upon? What country were those samples from?

Also the 'average' of something isn't always very reliable (first lesson of statistics :p). There is a possibility that those average ages were lifted due to some gamers being 50-60 years old...

I know for a fact that most X360 users are kids between 12-15. Maybe pc gamers, gog users are a bit older but all in all I see kids/teens most of the time near every game shop in my town. Not that I have something against it, cause I was a kid as well when I first played the atari 2600. But if most of these retarded nude mods on skyrim/fallout are made by 30-35 year old people then I'm sad

It's sensible to question stats, but making up your own "facts" based on personal experience isn't very convincing either. ;)

I found a cool video for the 10 best video game sex scenes featuring games like Dragon Age, God of War, Overlord 2. Before I post the link though, while the nudity is covered up it does have A LOT of profanity and I don't want to get chucked out of here for posting a link deemed inappropriate for the GOG forum.
What the... just yesterday I was thinking to start a thread about games focused on sexual content and... an hour or two later someone else did it. What the hell... I was motivated by a newer article from a different page, though.
