While it might seem like a logical candidate, EE2 had a completely different developer and publisher. It was developed by Rockstar New England (formerly Mad Doc) and published by Vivendi (Sierra). So that explains its absence.
I did a forum search, and no one mentioned the Gabriel Knight series.
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers (henceforth referred to as "GK1") was originally released in 1993 on 12 floppy disks, and again in 1996, this time on CD-ROM plus voice acting.
GK1 is one of the best P&C [Point -and-Click] adventure games I have ever played; the game brilliantly weaved fact and fiction to tell a current-day story about a series of "Voodoo Murders" in New Orleans. The game was intelligent, informative, and VERY fun to play, but the best aspect of this game was the characters. Gabriel Knight is an "author" who owns an almost-bankrupt "rare" bookstore in downtown New Orleans, and sets it upon himself to solve these murders. GK is not perfect: He's kind of a womanizer, and doesn't really think things through. He's joined by Grace Nakimura, his secretary at the store and best friend, though they have their share of often hilarious arguments.
Another one of the best things about GK1 is that, though it is rated "T" by the ESRB, it is by no means a game for kids or perhaps even teens. Aside from the complex and quite mature theme, GK will frequently make sexual comments and swear ("shit"), but on top of that, during the Voodoo Hounfour, there are pixel breasts, and the game expects the player to take it fairly seriously, being an actually mature game, instead of showing naughty bits and swearing for the sake of giggles.
Bonus: In the 1996 CD-ROM version, the voices are done by more than a few famous people, such as Tim Curry, Mark Hamill, Michael Dorn (who was Worf on ST:TNG), and a few others.

I have heard of them. But I don't think they've been mentioned in this thread, you're right. From what I know they're among the very best interactive movie games ever made.
I'll throw one into the ring: The Dark Eye.
It might not have the most intuitive gameplay of any title ever made, but it's certainly one of the most unique games every made all the same. It's definitely one I'd be inclined to try if the opportunity presented itself.
Gabriel Knight was alot of fun... makes me want to go find my blue Levi's and a white teeshirt and run around some foggy city :)

Vycka: It would be very nice to sometime see Heroes of Might and Magic 4 Complete and Heroes Chronicles on gog.com

Virama: HoMM 4 was teh worst out of the whole series. Almost unplayable. (Not because of bugs.)

I don't know what you're talking about. HoMM 4 was awesome.

Did you play HoMM 2 + 3? After those two games for years and years, playing 4 was a deep letdown. HoMM5 was a better return to form, but still...
(Also if you wanna do some research, soon after HoMM4, that company went bankrupt. Wonder why?)

As a matter of fact, I did play HoMM 2 + 3(I still think that 3 is the king), but HoMM 4 was not a letdown in the slightest to me and to many other people. To be honest, 3DO was having problems before HoMM 4 was even released.
HoMM 5 was not a bad game, but the Heroes spirit was almost completely gone.

I have to agree. Sad.

Ah, THQ. So many great games. Plus they have a tendency to drop copy protection in older titles anyway. They're definitely a prime candidate for GOG. Definitely.

That may be true but they also have the worst record for patching games than any publisher. Most games stay at ver1.0 no matter the bugs, then there was the whole Saints Row 2 issue.

It must depend on the developer then. As many THQ games I have are patched up the eyeballs. But the point still stands that they've got nothing against DRM free older games.
Total War series. Shogun Total War, Rome Total War, Medieval Total War. The old TW generation. =)
