When the willing suspension of disbelief gets binned. The later half of Fahrenheit is a classic case in point, and the last one-third or quarter of The Walking Dead relied on elements that I just wasn't having.
Final series of boss fights in Baldur's Gate: Throne of Bhaal. For nearly the entire game up to that point, you can take on a battle and then go rest up somewhere afterward to restore your health and spells. But not here. So you have to fight the boss three or four times IIRC, plus some other tough battles in-between encounters with him, and now with no chance to recover from the battle.

Screw it: enable cheat console, CTRL-Y everyone to death, roll credits. Yay, I "won". Next game!
why didn't you just shoot the chrysalis to bits?
Every single boss encounter in Deus Ex: Human revolution. Those bosses were a pain, and the difficulty directly derived from the obscene overall design. Seriously, one of the worst examples of gaming done wrong in the last few years! Besides, boss battles have nothing to do with the rest of the game, imo. I always like a good challenge, but not when it comes from broken gameplay...
Not sure if this counts as a "Nope" moment, but the first time the Nemesis punches through the wall and starts hunting you down in Resi Evil 3, anyone?

Unloading every bullet of every gun until backed against a wall somewhere, and....dead
Accidently teamkilling my entire team online in socom 4, realizing what just happened, laughing and just leaving the game.

MetalPixel: This thread is to discuss those special moments or enemies in games that you rather want to punch yourself
in the face than facing them.

To start off, mine would be in Xcom: UFO defense.

Picture this : you have completed a good number of missions and you have made good advancements in Tech and weaponry. Sure, a couple of soldiers have died, but you are doing great and the world is happy with your progress.

Then, you get a signal, aliens are attacking a city. "Business as usual" you think to yourself. You get there and you
see This there greeting you. Then this thing, in turn 1 no less; gets a soldier and zombifies him. Then you see to your horror, more of these things. A few minutes later, most of
your team is either dead or a zombie. So you have no choice but to abandon Florida.

So in conclusion, Screw Chryssalids.
Same thing goes for the Lobstermen in Terror From the Deep
I'd rather punch myself in the face than face these annoying bastards in the game XCOM - Enemy Unknown. http://xcom.wikia.com/wiki/Chryssalid

Not only do they move really fast and kill quickly. All the beloved soldiers under your command it kills, turn into zombies later to add insult to injury.

I'd also rather punch myself in the face than deal with the Cliffracers in Morrowind.
Any type of monster that suicide bombs itself, Ancient Liches in Daggerfall or Stygian Dolls in Diablo 2 are particular favorites...
GREAT THREAD and I have several so I will probably be in here on and off all day.

The first thing that comes to mind is the beginning of the Great Wall mission in AOE 2. The rest of the mission is a big long blast but that first timed bit is just too nerve racking. If you get your timing and placement right it's not that bad but just getting all your ducks in a row to get your timing and placement right before they finish that wonder is zero fun for me. Once it's down however the clock goes and you get to take your time moving in and pushing back the enemy which is what I love about a good RTS.
SS2 :

- And now, get INTO the Rickenbacker.
- Nope.

AVP :

- Recognise the Derelict ? Well, step in.
- Nope.

EOB :

- Spider webs. Come on, it's just a level with different monsters.
- Nope.

Kult :

- Come give a kiss now.
- Nope.

Commandos :

- And now discreetely force your way through this submarine harbour's crowd.
- Nope.

Dead Space, Farenheit, Rogue Legacy, Blob, Silent Hill 2 :

- Go buy a gamepad.
- Nope.
The first few times I played Baldur's Gate and Durlag's Tower. I had a hard time with the Demonknight continually turning my party against itself. I always tried to play Durlag's Tower at a very low level right after the Naskel Mines. Eventually I got the hint that I was too low of a level and waited until later when I was a higher level.

Or iron maiden curse when you are using whirlwind. Killed me plenty in original Diablo II.
Technically impossible to face, but in Fear 3 multiplayer, whenever I see Alma, I run far and fast very very quickly.

I really don't understand the DS reputation on PC.Beat it twice with a kb+m with zero problems.

me neither, although perhaps Telika is saying "nope" in response to the idea of going out to buy a gamepad?

Another 'nope' was in the first AVP : At one point in the beginning of the marine campaign, you reached a 3/4-storey window/ledge. The idea was to reach the bottom (perhaps by finding an elevator/staircase). I gave the dark corridors that disappeared into the building one look.... and jumped out of the window taking about 80% fall damage, nearly killing myself. Was worth it...

Oh yes that, the midwives (shudder) and arguably the creepiest part : There was this one character who gradually became insane, as evidenced by the audio logs you kept finding. Towards the end his voice became weird and raspy as he started to praise the 'many' . Big nope...

Ok and by far the biggest 'nope' of all in that game - the very last scene (just before or just after the credits) Gives me the shivers just thinking about it.
