Coelocanth: As to arcades, I spent most of my time in them in the early to mid '80s, and pinball was my go-to. Loved the pinball tables. The Black Knight and the Black Hole were my 2 favorite tables.
Ha! Black Knight was one of the very first duplex tables, the machines with a second level. It moved like a lead brick, which it basically was. My moves were useless on it. I played Black Hole some as well - my home table, though, was the KISS machine, the one that spelled out KISS in rows in the center of the table. I could turn that one over often enough.

I was fond of Xanadu, mostly because it made a little orgasm sound when you put your quarter in, which cracked me up. I'm not remembering the others at this remove - there were a few I was very very good at.

If you like these tables and pinball in general I really like The Pinball Arcade which has MANY pinball table recreations (50+ now) including Black Knight and Black Hole. It's available on PC and other platforms as well. Have sunk hundreds of hours into it!

pokemaztre: another age revealing thread :))

my first game is monty python's flying circus, in dos platform. installed in our 386dx pc with 5.25 floppy disk, with VGA screen.

if i look again at that game right now, i can't believe how absurd and surreal my first game was - which as a child i never had a single idea about it. well, children is way more open minded than adult, i think :) here's the video of it www.youtube.com/watch?v=MThuu54yg6g

i was around 4 that year, early 90's, really a good time :P

are you calling me a whipper snapper ?
I'm assuming you mean PC or console.

DieRuhe: The first gaming system I got was an Odyssey 2. I had baseball, a racing game, and "K.C. Munchkin" which was their Pac-man ripoff.
Me too! While all my friends had Atari, I was the one with Odyssey2. My firsts were football, K.C. Munchkin, some type of shooting game where it's you vs. another player or computer with some trees in the middle, and Pick Axe Pete!
Scott Adams Adventureland on the Commodore Vic 20 back in 81 was my first game purchase. Prior to that, it was Oregon Trail on an Apple II at school.

Oh yeah, I remember that one! Don't recall ever playing the KISS table though. But yes, there are a ton I'm forgetting as well.

You realize I'm going to have to kill you for pointing that out? Perhaps I'll just crush you under my massive backlog. :P
Well tbh it was 2 games and systems, I was so very very small and my dad came home with a Nintendo and I played I believe was the first mario brothers game that came with duck hunt and then the next day he returned it and came home with a Sega genesis with some hockey game and sonic 2 :D so I guess mario was my first one lol but I still count as sonic 2 being my first one due to me actually owning it for more then a half a day lol
Halo: Combat Evolved, the first ever FPS

HUR DEE HUE DEE DUR!!!! Just kidding, my real answer is:

First game ever was "Rally Speedway" for the Atari 800XL when I was 5 years old. I'll bet no one here knows about that game, HA!! "Bruce Lee" was the second game I ever played. "The Eidolon" was my third game. How about that, I even remember my first three games ever, ain't I special? :) Can't remember what my fourth was though, it might have been "Rescue on Fractalus" but this doesn't seem likely. "Karateka" is also a possible candidate for my fourth game.
Some kind of paddleball/brick breaking game on the family Mac. It wasn't very good, in retrospect. First console game I ever played, Duck Hunt on a friend's Nintendo, very briefly (like, for an hour). First "real" game that I spent any time on? A Gameboy game, but which one has been lost in the mists of time. I'm thinking either Tetris or Super Mario Land. First "real" PC game? Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade ... or possibly Forgotten Realms: Unlimited Adventures? I have a vague idea that I might have tried an early Might and Magic game, but if so, I gave up so quick it hardly counts.
Star Wars KOTOR...back in 2004 or 2005. My Dad loved the game and after he played it a lot and I watched him, he loaded it on the school computer and gave me the disk!

trusteft: 30 years later, I still suck at Pac-Man.

SalarShushan: Me too. I was always bad at those reflex games. My favorites were , [url=http://www.freekong.org/welcome.php]Donkey Kong, & Q*Bert.
I stank at them all, but I loved those bloops and bouncing bright colors. lol
No wonder some of us developed techno & rave music later on.
Hmm, probably a tie between Earthsiege 2, AMOK, and Scorcher (all PC versions).

I later found out about the Hitman game series, among other games by IO like Freedom Fighters (early 2000s), but never realized that my first foray into Jesper Kyd's music was through the latter two games.

Ha, the history of Zyrinx, Reto-Moto, Lemon, and IO Interactive are very interesting. It's funny they share a lot of the same guys. One studio after the other.
I honestly can't recall what the first game I ever experienced was, but do remember the first one I ever owned, I think I was around 7 or 8 years old.

An advanced pong clone called "Olympics" on this thing: http://tv-games.ru/wiki/uploads/Consoles/Radofin_1292_big.jpg

My first games were Summer Games, Trapper and Ghostbusters on C64. I was about 10, I think. Right after that came Tetris on the Game Boy.
