No single favourite, but there are a number of actors whose work I really admire.

Morgan Freeman
Ben Kingsley
Derek Jacobi
Ian Holm
Sean Connery
Robin Williams
Kevin Spacey
Tim Curry
Maggie Smith
Judy Dench
Helen Mirren

And most likely a ton more that I've forgotten.

Edit: Doh! Just looked at the post above. Alan Rickman is definitely also on my list.

da187jimmbones: I'm also a huge sucker for DiCaprio.

bevinator: I was convinced that he was just going to be another generic teenage heartthrob after early stuff like Romeo and Juliet and Titanic, but he has been consistently excellent in basically everything. He only seems to take parts in "Oscar bait" type movies, though.
Same here, it's nice to see how much he's managed to accomplish in recent years. I especially love the job he did in Inception. I never would have thought he'd be able to handle some of the roles he's managed.

Favorite actor is a tough one though. I'm consistently impressed with Johnny Depp. But from what I understand he suffers from the same problem when acting that I do, an inability to put the role down when done. I swear sometimes I have ever role and character I've ever played lodged in my brain sometimes.
Gary Oldman. He's such a convincing villain that I sometimes wonder if, deep down, he is truly evil.
My favorite actor is Clint Eastwood. He does the "mysterious badass" character better than anyone in his westerns, especially the Sergio Leone ones.

...and second favorite would be Al Pacino. The Godfather, Carlito's Way, Heat. He's just so damn entertaining to watch.
Al Pacino
Susan Sarandon.

Oh my! I totally forgot about him! I agree, Gary Oldman is a fantastic actor. He can get into the roles so well and he can play such a wide variety of characters.
Bruce Willis, Denzel Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio. Can't say about actress(es) though.
22 posts and nobody's said De Niro
Kevin Spacey . Did you know that he's eaten 27 bananas along with it's skin while shooting one K-PAX scene? ;P

I gotta go with Johnny Depp too. When you look at all the various roles he's played, and how he's made each it's own, it's very impressive. Take Edward Scissorhands, to Chocolat, to Jack Sparrow, all very different but believable.

Some actors get typecast and trapped in the same roles, but Johnny really stretches his legs.

bevinator: I don't really have a favorite, per se, but I have been extremely impressed by all of Sam Rockwell's work, particularly Moon. He never really seems to get a lot of recognition, though, which is strange because he generally steals the scene every time he's on camera.
His name came immediately to mind as I read the first post.

Really enjoy Timothy Olyphant, also. He was great in Hitman, and is perfect for Justified. Actually, Justified all around has a great cast.

TCMU2009: I also love Sigourney Weaver, mainly for the Alien series and Galaxy Quest( which also stars Alan Rickman!)
And <ding ding ding!> Sam Rockwell, who, as it turns out, stole the show.

Olyphant did good as 47, the movie still sucked though.
