I need something to cure my platformer itch. I am looking for something between Abuse and Treasure Adventure Game. Something with guns and little exploration element. Something like or [url=http://rpgmaker.net/games/2865/]Rework The Dead: Evil

Cave story was let down for me and Braid/Limbo aren't realy platformers. Plus they aren't free.

So, what is your favourite (freeware) platformer?
Not sure I know of any Freeware platformers. But I recommend Shank! best one I have played in a long time!
Spelunky
Super Crate Box
It is Cave Story, but another one I also enjoyed was La-Mulana. Though that one is more of an absurdly obtuse Myst-like with platforming gameplay.

Not very long though. I finished it in 4-5 hours.

Although, it has some replay-ability value -> harder difficulty and a coop campaign.

This one ate so many hours.. days... of my life. Very fun and very replayable.

It has guns and it has some exploration to it, also. (Referring to the OP.)

Cave Story Cave Story Cave Story. Spelunky is also good.
My favorite freeware platformer is Cave Story.

...but I think that I Wanna Be the Guy is definitely what you're looking for, some relaxing and fair platforming to cure that itch. The words in this paragraph may or may not be a horrible lie designed to later drive you into despair.
I just started "I want to be the Boshy" based off "I want to be the Guy" I am stuck on the first Hello Kitty Boss though
Super Tofu Boy, anyone?

Nah, kidding. My best freeware platformer would be Spelunky or The Cleaner. Sounds like I really need to fire up Cave Story+, which I haven't played yet.
So, when can we expect GOG to release Cave Story+?

Cave Story

Though do Metroidvania games count as platformers?
Cave Story and Spelunky have already been mentioned, and those are two very fine choices. Here are a few more:

Frogatto & Friends
L'Abbaye des Morts
Flood the chamber
Escape from the Underworld
Momodora
Eternal Daughter (By the same guy who made Spelunky)
Hero Core (Not a platformer, but still a game that should scratch the same kind of itch)
EDIT: Frogatto already mentioned before.
