For me it's RPGs above all else. I don't like the FP PoV, so FPS are something I rarely, if ever, play. RTS and TBS games are number two.
1.RPGs
2.Adventure Games
3.Action games
4.FPS
5.MMORPG
1. RPGs (in particular turn based or other strategic, top-down fare)
2. Adventure games (Sierra, Lucasarts and their ilk)
3. Strategy games (in particular turn based, not RTS!)
4. Most other things!
Basically I suppose I'm into anything that allows me to stop and think before I take any action. Although I do play action games or FPS, I tend to enjoy them less, and they have very little replay value.
I'm currently playing Jagged Alliance 2, and spending hours on it, it's one of my top 10 all time faves.
I love FPS games so much that I'm getting tired of them. Yet that's not going to stop me from playing the next loud mindless good looking shooter.
Fighting games, really.
FPS, keep in mind I mean the old ones. Most today are complete and utter crap I think. Sort of sad that my favorite genre was completely killed after Half-Life it seems.
Strategic games in general...real time, turn based, strategic, tactical, political, military, historical, futuristic, fictional...doesn't matter, so long as it's good.
Strategy games, especially turne-based...
For me its RPG. There's nothing I like more than a nice long engaging RPG (whether its a J or CRPG). Especially open world games like the Elder Scrolls and Fallout games.
Next would be FPS. FPS used to be my favorite but over the years I've been more interested in RPG's.
After FPS would come RTS - been hooked on the C&C games since hte original DOS version of C&C came out.
Finally would be racing games. I'm not big into sports game, but I do enjoy the occasional racing game (recently played a bit of Burnout Paradise, fun game).
Really though I just play whatever I think looks good. The one genre I generally won't touch are sports games (aside from the aforementioned racing game). I also am not into music games...I haven't caught that bug yet, though I don't mind playing Rock Band if a friend has it and there's a group of us.

What the hell are you talking about? First person shooters have only been getting better and better since Half-life. In terms of graphics, story telling, multiplayer options, and streamlining gameplay. You do know that Half-life has a sequel right? It's like... Half-life's younger hotter and less bitchy younger sister.
But let me just rattle off a few post-Half-life FPS titles that come to mind shall I?
Serious Sam, Painkiller, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty, Doom 3, Quake III, Portal, Unreal Tournament, XIII, Max Payne (technically not an FPS), Black, Rainbow Six 3, F.E.A.R., Far Cry, Soldier of Fortune, Halo,Battlefield 1942, No One Lives Forever, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Medal of Honor, BioShock, Timeshift, Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter, Star Trek: Elite Force, S.W.A.T. 4, Operation Flashpoint, Timesplitters, Project Snowblind, Hitman, Metroid Prime, Chronicles of Riddick ...
Want more? I didn't even list the sequels and spinoffs of each of those games. Granted, not all of those games were instant classics, but from all that variety of genres and different game types, you're telling me that you did not enjoy a single game?
I think you just want to be cool by hating everything that's new and fun.
Sneaker games like Thief, Death to Spies.
FPS/RPG hybrids (VTMB, Deus Ex)
Turn-based tactical (Jagged Alliance)
Pure CRPG.(Ultima, Wizardry)
FPS, although the newest ones strain both my budget and my hardware so I have been digging into the older selections. I have nothing against the new FPS, I just can't play them due to limitations :-).
I also like some sim games like Uplink.

Roguelikes fortify my being, though RPG's and games that work in many RPG elements tend to also strike my fancy. I crave replayability, challenge, and versatility so these work well.
cRPG and TBS are my favorites, followed closely by RTS. And strategy/RPG hybrids (such as King's Bounty) are unbelievably addictive for me.
I can't decide which genre I prefer, so I'll go with two: RPGs and turn-based strategy.
Having said that, my favorite game is Deus Ex, I've really enjoyed Railroad Tycoon III, Tropico, and SimCity4 even though they move in real time, and I spent many evenings playing "one more turn" of Big Kahuna Reef 2, a casual match-4 game.
