I'll go with Deus Ex. Though if only pure RPGs count, then I'd say it's a toss-up between Anachronox and Planescape: Torment.

Elmofongo: I should admit I now own what I consider every single classic isometric RPGs for Windows Starting with Diablo 1 and ending with Sacred Gold and I will list what I have played:

Diablo (Beat it, and it was OK)
Fallout (Beat it and loved it)
Fallout 2 (Not yet and it was too hard and trying to beat it on the skin of my teeth)
Baldur's Gate (Beat it, and liked it but not aged well in some areas)
Planescape:Torment (Barely played it, but not giving up on it)
Nox (Just purchased)
Diablo II (Beat it and it was ok but a tad repetitive)
Baldur's Gate II (Never went far)
Icewind Dale (Have not played it)
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura (Have not played it, but I have high expectations)
Divine Divinity (Have not played it)
Icewind Dale II (Have not played it)
Temple of Elemental Evil (Have not played it, but worried about the technical aspects of the game)
Beyond Divinity (Have not played it)
Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition (Just Purchased)
Sacred (Just Purchased)

koima57: I'm an old geezer about RPG's already lol, born in 1979.. So yes, by myself I would not have enjoy it much I believe, as it is has very, very light RPG features.

Both of you, shut up, we are young adults, not old geezers (unless you are Dorian Gray who abused his body and looked old at a young age).

Anyway, back on topic, I will say Darklands and there's no way that's going to change overtime. Since that was the first game I ever played that time did affect your characters (aging) and didn't have the usual mage user and cleric user but instead you have alchemists and priests. You do pray to saints so they provide you with their blessings. Music was enjoyable and helped to describe the places as you moved around in a city.

PS: BTW, I was also born in 1979.

That's IT? What about Silver, Beyond Divinity, Darklands, SSI Goldbox (combat is isometric at least), Revenant, Ultima series, Darkstone, Lionheart and Heretic kingdoms, just off the top of my head!

Uh you should read closely since I have mentioned I have Beyond Divinity and Heretic Kingdoms. And have the important Ultima games (except 123 and 9) Though excluding Ultima 8 I would not consider Ultima 6 and 7 the same style compared to Fallout and Baldur's Gate.

But I do not have Silver, Darklands, SSI Goldbox, Revenant, Darkstone and Lionheard and the Geneforce Saga as mentioned above.

But Silver does not look truly isometiic it looks more like Final Fantasy on PS1
Darklands is too 16-bit-ish instead of the pre-rendered 3D graphics I like
Darkstone is too 3D it almost looks like an early version of Neverwinter Nights
SSI Goldbox does not look like what I think of isometric RPGs
Geneforce...I don't know convince me.
Only ones I would now get is Lionheart and Revenant which the latter sadly is not here on GOG.

Maybe it's my nostalgia speaking but, like a predictable tosser, I will say Planescape: Torment. Mind you, I haven't played the game for over a decade.
