Buying games from Steam is like playing with fire. You never know when you're gonna get burnt.

Navagon: I'd love to see their explanation for that one. Not that you're even going to get one.
avatar
Delixe: Well I am going to demand an explanation because as far as I can tell my account along with all the 100 odd games has been disabled for no reason whatsoever.

See, this is one of the reasons why I got Steam to terminate my account last week. I no longer like their model and didn't want to get to the point where I had to stay with them because of all the games I'd bought.
I've already been stung by Google Mail disabling my account for a year for their own security inadequacies - I refuse to have my gaming experience controlled by another big corporation whose tech/customer support is lacking, inflexible, illogical and (as you've discovered) deeply flawed.

lowyhong: Buying games from Steam is like making love to a beautiful woman. Regardless of what you believe, it's you who ends up getting screwed.

Fixed!

So, any known details on how steam goes about deciding which accounts to disable?

Oh wow, that must suck.

Delixe: I have to say that unless a game is ONLY available on Steam

At least you're giving Steam more credit than Weclock does.

I'm not hating on Steam. Yet. I have a problem and I have asked them to solve it. At the moent its not looking good as it does look like they have all gone home for the weekend. Microsoft has better support than this.

I suppose it's because they're all based in Seattle, whereas Microsoft support is based in... ooh, everywhere. Then again, it seems like if you didn't do anything wrong, the odds are good.

The worst thing I ever did was buy the HL Pack from G2Play. As they are still operating I think I am safe.

Funny thing is, so did I. Came with all the expansion packs on TFC, yeah?
Ooh, and about your avatar, Dogma is awesome.

Dunno if it means I'll get my ass banned, but it seems I'm fine. Lots of people who don't take too kindly to Steam prices (USD or otherwise) use them, and I doubt they're all banned. Still, when did you buy it? I bought mine only last month.

Flashdrive: It is a well known fact that they get very lazy on Fridays, then leave for the entire weekend.

Yeah, AND Gabe Newell is on holiday that his misguided Valve fanboy followers are paying for. Well, not really, but you get the point.

I bought that HL pack about 3 months ago when G2Play had sale on.
Fuck that sucks balls.
The ONLY game I've got from Steam is CS and CSS. And I never play it anymore. *shrug*
MEHHHHHH
Now, GoG on the other hand... WIN! (Call me cynical if you want but I do download every game I've bought on here ASAP and put it on my nice 1TB usb HDD just in case. *smiles*)
