SimonG: Where is Damuna btw?

hedwards: Eh, probably nowhere near here. I kind of liked her, but you have to admit that she caused almost as much trouble as GR did at that point and more than he does currently.
The wiki is nice.
I've been adding info once in a while (mostly GOG release dates) but I got a few 503 errors a bit ago while editing a page. :(

I clicked preview, it worked. But when I tried to save, I got a 503 error.

I went back later and there were no problems, so I have no idea what's going on.

SimonG: They won't and shouldn't for legal reasons alone. Only way would be if they took "control" over the wiki. But considering that this could only mean problems for them, I can't see that happening.
Could you explain why? Loads of sites contain external links, Wikipedia, BBC News, anything with an advert on it. As long as it's clearly labelled as external content I can't understand the issue?

Of course it all boils down to what law is effective in Poland. But the general rule o thumb when it comes to hompages ist that you need some general "editorial contorl" over the hompeage, even if it is user created (forums). That is the reason post here linking to crack sites are removed. It is not very clear what is ok and what not, and different hosts are more or less aggressice in their editing.

If the wiki would be "GOG powered" they would have to make sure that they keep us in check in what we are doing there. And I personally feel, that working without the "GOGs" looking over our shoulder is better for everyone.

The one sentence (german law) explanation would be "While you are not liable for every link posted on your page, you are liable if you host a homepage but do not an "editorial overview". The claimant would have to prove, that you failed to maintain that overview.
BBBBBBUMP

legal stuff meh

WE HAZ WIKI
One of the things I really want to see on the wiki done well are the pages we have on DOSBox and ScummVM.

Since there's a huge disparity in the versions used in GOG games, features and compatibility can be lost between releases. The global ScummVM and DOSBox pages are there to make sure everybody is up to date.

So if you have a game with an old version of DOSBox, ideally we'd like to know how you got it working with a newer version, if there was any trouble at all. If there wasn't, that's worth noting too.

I think frontends are important, too. DOSBox has plenty and the DOSBox page should really detail on how to get the perfect frontend environment for your GOGs.
I wish I had the free time to do some things with the Wiki again, I drop in from time to time on the IRC page but most of the time when I have free time I want to chill out so play games, the rest of the time I have to do stupid household chores or the Mrs kicks my ass.

Added to that I knew nothing about making wiki's before the project and its been so long that ive likely forgotten what I learned....

Contributing in just the smallest way is fantastic. If you ever find yourself with a spare few minutes to correct spelling mistakes, add an extra tutorial step or whatever, then that's excellent. Contribute whatever you can.
Just a quickie bump, if you happen to have some or more of the games that are no longer being sold by GOG, contact me.

I'm gonna fill out the missing info on the Wiki for reference.
WELL NOBODY CONTACTED ME BUT I DID IT ANYWAY.

I'll work on the other games in the near future.

Seems like a good idea to do that. Thanks.
