It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

I'm stuck with my Razer Diamondback 3G mouse as my other mouse died. I'd like to be able to use the extra buttons it has in games. Unfortunately Razer hates us lefties and thinks we should go die in a fire.
That leaves me with the Windows XP pro generic mouse drivers at the moment.
So is there any program out there that would let me assign its buttons to keystrokes to make the buttons more useful in games?
Or better generic mouse drivers out there? That would be a simple yet effective solution. I can't find any though.

Well, you can get the Razer Lachesis or Razer Copperhead. They are for both right-handed and left-handed people. I use the second one, and I am totally amazed by it.

The Diamondback 3G is great for lefties from a hardware standpoint. But the drivers are infinitely worse than the default Windows ones. I was just wondering if there was a way of using those extra buttons without buggering everything up by using the supplied drivers (and no, they've never been updated).
I found this site:

The only problem I see with it is that it seems to only support up to 5 buttons from that screenshot though I'm not sure if you could find mouse drivers for a 7 button mouse that you would beable to map the other 2.

Not bad. Not bad at all! Thanks a lot for finding this.
Of course, it's a shame that the unrecognised buttons are on the same side my thumb is. But, all being well, it's a big improvement over the default drivers. I'll have to try these out in some of the more problematic games and see how they fare.
EDIT: I probably won't be able to test any more of these at least until the weekend.
But I'd welcome any further suggestions.

I still can't find a damn thing that works. X Mouse just gives me 2 right mouse buttons in some games. Which... is a tad awkward.
Hydra mouse requires the mouse's own drivers be installed in order for it to work. Yet it cannot override the driver's settings.
