I am wouldering if anyone here uses a programe could Xfire. If you do, then say so in here. If you don't, then here is a quick discripiton of it:
It is bacillary a Game Tracker. It can pick up any game on you PC, and will then keep trake of how many hours you have played of it. It also lets you see what other people are playing, by way of the Freands List. If the game is a multyplayer game, you may also be able to join though Xfire.
It also has a built in Recording system, which means you can record any game that Xfire supports, and they are working on a Broadcasting thing at the moment, were you will be able to send a live feed of you, playing the game, and other people will be able to watch you, as you play.
It is, in my opinion, going to become a very powerful tool.
The reason I ask this, is to see if anyone wants to start a 'Guild' with Xfire. This way, we could all see what we are playing, and could even arrange to play with each other on games we have got from GOG!
If there are people interested, I will start a group, and post a link to were you can ask to join in here.
Thanks, Jagji
xfire.. I hate that program. it has never once worked correctly for me and there doesn't seem to be a light weight version of it.
I would kick those guys in the knees. I forgot who bought out the original creators of Xfire, but I remember it being one of the most hated services around..
Well, it woeks very well now. Maybe you should give it another go?....
Hmm, I've downloaded Xfire recently and my system kinda refused to do -anything- when the damn program started... I had to kill it before it managed to do anything, and that caused a lot of frustration and restarts ... After some time (maybe a week) I reinstalled my OS, and my friend asked me to install Xfire... So I thought I'll give it another shot. Surprisingly, it just ment ANOTHER problems, I'm just not absolutely sure what they were. But no minotiries. That means: No Xfire for me ever again.

That would be Viacom.
Interesting..... I have never had a problem with it.....
I've pretty much given up on Xfire and yeah even MSN recently. I use Steam. Since I've bought tons of games through it I no longer require anything else. The gamers I want to talk to all use it, so it's not a problem. The chatroom features of groups is also one I use all the time.
Steam is still a heavy app, although I do use it.. my desktop is fairly strong, but my laptop.. I only logon to steam if I have to..
But there's nothing against Xfire if they made a lightweight app and figured out how to keep their program stable. I've gone full screen with a game through it, and it pushed the app off my screen.
I couldn't move my mouse to get it either.
I uninstalled, reinstalled, and it saved it's location settings IN MY REGISTRY.
Steam is 1800k of memory and is usually running constantly anyway for when I play the games. So no, it's really not that big.

That's only if it's working correctly. I find when installing a game, updating a game, or trying to view the store through it, it lags.
I've used XFire for about a year and a half. It works pretty well for me, and the addition of a decent video recorder was nice.

I'm not really sure what internet lag has to do with using the chat and community features.

Hahaha, I wasn't talking about internet lag, I meant it's a greater resource hog during those two instances.
Xfire has been used by me for a couple years now. I used to have problems regarding it's interference with some games, but now it isn't so much a problem. I just use it purely as a tool to talk to friends who are playing other games without having to worry about interrupting gameplay.
I like Xfire, my only complaint is that some of their game compatibility is just flat-out stupid. Like, they support UFO: Afterlight, but only the Steam version of UFO: Afterlight. There are many other examples like this.
