There's no actual information about this yet till the announcement at Gamescom later this month, however, since a day or so the number of achievements in XCOM Enemy Unknown has grown with ~30 unnamed achievements (main game had ~55), so the likelyhood of EW being a proper expansion to EU is getting pretty big. I'm hoping for the best :D

I just want a new Terror From the Deep =(
When I saw that title I thought of XCOM meets The Thing, which could be a cool game actually.

Isn't that roughly what already happens when you run into a Chryssalid? :p

Man, the level where I fist met them still haunts me. It was the Senate site or something, my squad was completely unprepared and brutal slaughter was happening all around me. I managed to finish it with everyone recovering for next couple of days and after seeing impossible amount of civilians being infected by Chryssalids :/.

(Nice memories, I hope there will be similar experience in a possible sequel :D.)

Sadly I think my first runin involved screaming like a little girl when the Xcom operative I had closest was killed in one stab, only to be ... seeded. Good times, good times xD
Oh, I've been wondering when will they release some other DLC or something. I absolutely loved the new XCOM and can't wait to play more. Already finished it 5 or 6 times so a new DLC/expansion would be a good reason to start another game :)
Was hoping for them to remake Terror from the Deep. It's the same thing but I really love the Lovecraftian atmosphere.

But no matter what they do we badly need a Random map generator and free roaming aliens to make the game more sandboxy.

Haha, I understand so much. This was also the first mission when my super bad-ass, untouchable German sniper Nix was killed (and seeded). I don't think my jaw could have dropped lower.

As for Enemy Within - If it's DLC/expansion, I'll pass and buy complete DRM-free version later. If it's a sequel, that's awesome. I didn't believe any remake could be good and it ended up among my favorite titles released in 2012. I'm sure they are planning something good.

I think it will be a DLC/Expansion in the veins of Gods and Kings or Brave New World for Civ V. So a meaty DLC.

And don't forget that we've already been teased about it.

Probably. I simply don't feel an urge to play expansions as opposed to a new game with new plot and everything. I also rarely re-play, so when I do it's years later and at the time I hardly want to deal with online authorisation of its parts. I enjoyed the game to the point I want DRM-free backup and it's also the only time when I'm willing to pay for additional content. Mass Effect was the sole exception.

Understandable. My thoughts were that since that communication seems fitting to be received after XCOM:EU ends, it could be that you carry on after the final mission. So it would be more or less like Lord of Destruction for Diablo 2 than Gods and Kings for Civ V.
Who knows though, two more weeks until we have more info.

Yes, This is my biggest complaint. Once I finished it, I was done. The whole game was pretty much a strategy/tactical game on rails. After my third play through it became obvious there were key events that all popped up about the same time in the game play. No surprise, eventually boredom. I liked some of the stream lining elements, even reducing the number of soldiers down was fine. Not being able to pick up a medkit dropped by a fallen soldier, or other tools, knowing that the craft and aliens were effectively at the opposite end of the starting location and non-roaming aliens killed the atmosphere for me. It was one thing to kill the base invasion, but turning the alien base invasion into a linear shooting gallery wit progressively harder aliens just added to the grind.

I am really hoping this new DLC adds some more sandbox elements... I doubt it though as this seems to be a trend to make turn games into interactive movies.
Man, ive only played a bit of this game despite pre ordering at launch, and im thinking whatver happened to the DLC for this game? Talk about few and really...crap (and people whinge about the Omerta DLC....)
Can they make the expansion (or whatever its going to be) a bit harder & provide more variety?.
