excalibunny: Firaxis shit all over Civ 5 and made it the weakest civilization to date.

anjohl: Meh, Civ is Civ. I found the console port to be the best in the series myself. More accessible =/= worse.
More accessible for me is streamling which usually mean dumbed down for the masses.
I'm not interested in some shitty console game for casuals. I'll stick with Xenonauts, a game designed exclusive for REAL gamers on a REAL gaming platform.
I can never figure out where the concept of snobbish PC asshats comes from...

Again, meh. I have no interest in custom maps, mods, and all that other jazz. CivRev had the essence of Civ in a much easier to digest package. I would love to see Creative Assembly try some Total War console ports in the same fashion.

That's you though. Quite a number of people like complexity, that's y Paradox's wargames are so popular.
If CA doesn't remove any existing features and adds in additional gameplay features then go ahead.

The problem here is that there are butt loads of games out their for people not inclined to think while gaming but developers continue to take complex games and mess them up for the games fan base. I see no reason for this because there are SO many simple games out there why mess with the fans? I know you're going to reply money but they've tried this over and over with x com and they blew it every time. After Terror from the deep the game became streamlined until it was unrecognizable.

same goes for Splinter Cell. Did it need to become another action game? Does ever game out there have to be an action game? Can't games with complexity exist among pick up and play games?

Yep, I own Victoria 2 and Crusader Kings 2 and love them. They've found an untapped audience of people who want thought provoking gameplay. The issue a lot of devs are having is that they are all fighting over the same audience when there are other groups of people to explore.

I'm not trying to be snobish at all.

Let me ask you a question. What is your favorite video game?

I have Hearts of Iron 2 & 3. Played 2 as the tutorial, 3 as the main game, played it for months, loved it and still after many games I don't get some game mechanics. Everytime I run into wonderful AARs like this, it makes me wanna play the game again:
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?616017-AMERICA-Saves-the-World!-USA-AAR-HOI3-FtM-3.05&s=e09ede8c0aa258e83e9c39ea9eb5b8fb

I also have Victoria 2, and EU3 but haven't started on them, I've still aliitle overwhelmed I spent at least a month trying to learn how to play Hearts of Iron but the game is so rewarding. I normally can just jump into strategy games and play without reading the manual or trying to learn how to play but I just can't for Paradox's games lmao. Kinda regret I haven't gotten CK2 from GG during their summer sales.
Looks really Kool! I miss the old Microprose.

I actually wasn't referring to you.

As for my favorite game, that's about as impossible a question for me to answer as "Hey, what's your favorite band?" It completely changes based on my mood and what I'm in to at that particular time. It might be Crusader Kings 2 (though I haven't spent much time with that at all), Battlefield 3, Dawn of War 2, Sleeping Dogs, X-Com or Panzer Command : Ostfront (and so on), depending on what I'm in to at that particular time.
So will this just be a port?. Or done on the PC right?. *looking for preorders - seems only Amazon atm $44.99USD*. Hopefully it will show up on GMG sometime

Simultaneous release. The recent gameplay video was made on PC, with a controller plugged in. The game has a PC interface, but unlike most ports it will let you plug a controller in and use the controller UI.

Harvey Norman is offering the PC release for pre-order at $70AUD (2K are gouging fuckers that suck retailer store dicks with great enthusiasm still).

It looks like ordering online is the right idea, and will be cheaper than any eventual digital release anyway because of 2K. $38 AUD from Play Asia with free shipping isn't a bad deal.
This is also progressing nicely http://xcomrl.blogspot.com/ Probably, the leader in my interest list of recent X-Com revivals.

Yep.
Experience shows, that graphics, which do not require any detail and animation, leave more freedom for gameplay design. Read the updates of X@Com...
I mean
Other things I played with to test the system:
phase-shifting aliens
amorphous aliens that divide in two when shot
aliens that emit a deadly toxin which kills any humans who get too close
aliens that trigger periodic cyclones which pick up small objects and fling them around (oops, did you throw that grenade over here? hah!)
alien gun that shoots out smaller aliens (here, have a facehugger!)
controlled teleports
items that can transform into other items
potion of strength (quaff it, really)
staff of destruction (disintegrates everything within a certain radius of target position)
a med station that heals user when "manipulated" (<--a new command that allows units to "use" terrain objects--could be used for computer terminals or whatever)
(approx. 30 more test abilities...)
Or this thingie!

There's an early test build available, probably another will come soon-ish.
