Well, I was trying to post this in a month-old thread, but somehow the forum decided not to bump up the thread. Weeeird. Anyway...

As far as "remakes" go, this new XCOM definitely has a lot of promise. Here's a video of actual gameplay (plus some not too horrible PR talk). It's a good thing then that the lead designer is a massive XCOM fan and probably one of the biggest reasons why this game will see a release this Fall. It also has been in development before people were going mad about the other new XCOM game. (Apparently they're using the UE3 engine for Enemy Unkown.)

I'm excited for this.

I hope the changes they make to the game design are done for the better but it remains to be seen.

Definitely the game I'm looking forward to most.
Good. Hopefully the previous titles will go on sale soon.

BTW: from the looks this game already has my money set aside.

This does look impressive and does seem to be faithfull to the original. Fraxis is a good company and they have produced some great games in the past.
I need a better computer. :(

I couldn't have said it better.
If it's available DRM-Free somewhere, it's an insta-buy. If it's not, I'll go berserk, shoot in random directions, drop my gun and start running around in the crossfire like a headless chicken.

I highly doubt it. It probably will just come with mandantory Steam like Civ 5.
That actually looked very, very promising. The level they showed also instantly reminded me of some of the alien terror levels in the original- definitely seems to be being made by people who are quite familiar with the original and are looking to capture the spirit of it. I'm also hoping they use the graphics now available to re-introduce the terror of Chrysallids to a whole new generation.

I hope they wont' be foolish enough to leave out the Chrysalids and Ethereals. After all it was the Chrysalid that gave X-Com its terror..

Also I read from Neogaf that the squad limit is 6 with the upgraded Interceptor? Any chance of that going to 8 with the best Interceptor? Hope to see vehicles and hovertanks in the next video. Or hovertanks and squad members in the same video.

I'm having this problem as well, posting to see if it's working now. And also because I'm really looking forward to the new X-Com, the footage is very promising (I like how they turned the base into an ant farm-styled setup).

Edit: Nope, still have that problem ...

More than an hour of gameplay, 2 missions and the Ant Farm (home base). You see Chrysalids making zombies. At the end they show customisation that comes with the pre-order and first print run of the game. Including the old x-com flat top hairstyle.

I have a better computer now. Now I just want to hump it.
If you're on the fence with the remake, watch the video Porkdish linked. Very cool stuff.

Yep, DRM free insta-buy for me too. If it isn't, I'm going to rip off all my skin and stand in a breezy hallway.
