Thunderstone: 1. The ads are obnoxious and make me feel stupider viewing. Make better ads and I might be interested in viewing them.
With stuff like this we might actually see ads on TV improving - you know, with direct feedback, it's quite probable that companies will actually try to come up with something that catches attention.
Well ads for games might not end up being bad to be fair - we have lived with them on TV for ages, and there were always ways around it. Problem is that as it is, games can only make money on first-hand sales. With ads, there would be more streams of revenue, possibly leading to game prices dropping (admittedly, that's something we see already with digital distribution - prices didn't drop directly, but deep discounts are very common)
Ads might also solve the 'second-hand' problem. I would definitely like to see a system which would allow you to pay more for a game (as in as much as a game costs now) to get it ad-free, and pay less (or nothing at all, even) to get a game with ads.
