Final Verdict: I'll wait till the real thing comes out before making any judgements, on May 1st in theaters.

I am going to disregard any talk of the copy that leaked a couple of weeks ago. Fox was probably shitting bricks between that and sending out the wrong copies of Slumdog Millionaire two weeks ago. But still, who wants to watch that? It's not the finished product. And all the talk that people have about pirating games and letting developers get their money that is theirs, does that not apply with movies?
SHAME ON YOU!

Shun the one who watches pirated movies... shun...
As for me, I will be waiting for the finished product, and hopefully enjoying that.
So it's as bad as X3? Oh dear. :(
Honestly, I've always thought it was much more interesting to see the whole Weapon X business through these vague, often confusing flashbacks from Logan's jumbled memories of what happened. Seeing it all clearly takes away some of the mystery of his past, which was a key element of the character.

Guess it's karma for kicking David Hayter off the series, even though he was the only one who knew what the hell he was doing with X1 and X2.

TheCheese33: Look, I wasn't the one who brought the copy home, like I said before. If I were lying, you'd be able to tell because two-thirds of the post would've been "OF COURSE, I HAD NO PART IN THIS. IT WAS ALL HIM." Of course it applies to movies! I have bought every movie that I own, and every game that I own. Lord knows I've tried to be as uncaring as the rest of my senior high school and take everything for free like they do, but I have a conscience, and I just can't do it without seriously injuring myself.
I did not do this to brag about how I got to see a movie before anyone else, or watch it without the full intention of paying for it. Believe me, I will go to my local theater on May 1st, buy a ticket, and sit through it again, just so I can feel a little less guilty for even watching a copy I didn't even have a part in retrieving. Hell, I'll take a picture of the ticketstub and post it here just to show you I'm a man of my word!

Dude, if you didn't like it that much why would you subject yourself to it again? I wasn't really pissed at you or anything, I was just trying to bring a point across (that and the fact that I've been working on this damn report all afternoon and I'm bored out of my mind). Also, I had actually heard good things about it. I'm still hoping for the best, I'll go see it when it comes out, Lord knows I like my summer blockbusters with a large soda and popcorn covered in butter.

Yeah, sorry for overacting. If it's action you're looking for, the movie will deliver. Just don't expect a plot you'll be happy with, especially if you've read X-Men or Dead Pool before. Even only going off the other X-Men movies won't be very satisfying.

I want spectacle, and the trailer had plenty, I can live with a stupid story. I mean, was the story really that memorable in that piece of heaven that is called The Warriors? Or what about the Mariachi trilogy, I can keep naming awesome movies off of my shelf that have retarded plots.
But you said you may go see it again, so you kind of liked it but was just disappointed, or was it just the guilt?

I'm seeing it again mostly because of guilt, but also because it'll be interesting to see rough 3D models translated into realilistic effects.
The thing about the action, for me, is that it isn't flat-out awesome enough to carry the movie like the Mariachi trilogy or Afro Samurai did. In fact, Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico are two of my favorite movies of all time (wasn't a big fan of the first one, El Mariachi). I also enjoy movies that are so awful they're a blast to watch (Plan Nine From Outer Space and every movie in The Fast and The Furious series except for 2 Fast 2 Furious, which was just awful).
An unfinished, unedited movie is hardly going to be good. The editing can totally change a movie. And this kind of movie is so reliant on SFX that watching it without them is like watching Titanic before they add in the boat.
Many films change dramatically between the first cuts and the final release. (though of course not always for the best).
Bladerunner was originally terrible. the re-edit was one of the best films ever made.
I remember one of my friends from Hong Kong watched a pirated version of The Two Towers and thought it was a terrible movie. I forced them to watch my DVD version and they loved it. Quality and cuts can make a big difference.
As for this movie, i'm not really expecting much more than an action-a-thon anyway. But thats cool sometimes.
Considering that the FBI is known to be going after this leak, i'm not sure i'd be posting about having watched it either.
-----
BUT, i do agree with a lot of your points about the star wars prequels.
its cool to put in a few sly hints and references to the other movies... but they seriously went overboard. It had the effect of shrinking the universe due to all the coincidental meetings... and of making the whole thing seem like it was trying way too hard.

The movie is loosely based on the Weapon X storyline from Marvel Comics Presents #72-84, which already told Woverine's origins pretty much from childhood to his modern introduction. The mystery was long gone from the character before this movie was even conceived.

TheCheese33: Though from the titling, I assume there will be more Origins movies to come.

There is a X-Men Origins: Magneto movie already in the works, but if the Wolverine movie does not do well, it will not be made.
On the subject of reviewing the movie based on the leak; you can't really judge an incomplete and unedited version of the movie. I'm certainly not saying that the final product will be any better, but it will definitely be different than what you saw, which could be better.

The film that was leaked, the workprint that is, lacks about 15 minutes of footage. Like as in not the unfinished CG etc., it literally doesn't have 15 mins worth of scenes in it. So... don't judge it based on that version, seriously.

Maybe so, but most of the people watching it will never have read those. Can't comment on this particular case, but i do think that its often better to leave things vague... filling in too many details often lessens the effect.
(Star wars prequels again, or the bad bladerunner cut, etc... Sometimes its better to leave things to the imagination... actually, i sometimes find this with games too. With old games you had to fill in the details and action with your imagination.. you can't do that with most modern games)

True, but that wasn't really my point. Arkose seemed to be saying that the movie was killing the mystery, when it was already killed in the comics almost a decade ago (longer for the Weapon X portions). The movie is just (loosely) following what has already happened with the character in the comics, for good or bad.
Personally, while I think some mystery is fine, there was almost 20 years of carrying Wolverine's mysterious past in the comics before they did the Weapon X storyline and it was still 10 more years before they did the Origin story. Keeping his past shrouded in mystery for nearly 30 years was, frankly, getting really old and boring. The story needed to be told, otherwise the character would become nothing more than a stagnant cliche.

I saw Fast and Furious last weekend, it was absolutely hilarious, I think you'll like it from what you've said. The opening was legitimately stank as hell, and if the whole movie had been like that I would've liked it as a movie, it's basically the gas tankers hijacking from the first trailer they showed, which had me really pumped, but the rest of the movie is hilariously retarded with god awful acting, my favorite line being Walker yelling "I'm sorry, Dom!!! I'm sorry..." and he just kicks a box out of what I am assuming is frustration?! While the girl is just blankly staring at him, I don't know if she was supposed to feel sympathy or confusion, which are quite different emotions.
