Grargar: Why must all reboots feel so... samey? I thought I was seeing a trailer for Amazing Spider-Man for a moment.
The 2012 animated series was a pretty good reboot of TMNT, imo. My only real complaint with that one was the CGI animation.

I thought the new series took most of its stuff from the first cartoon show and the first two live action movies. Got similar lyrics in the music, Splinter is Hamato Yoshi which I thought was always more dramatic anyway, Rahzar is in it, Rob Paulsen is in the show, etc.

Exactly, they did a good job with keeping the spirit of the original cartoon while modernizing it to a new generation.

And its the whole WB Animated series syndrome going on all over again. Instead of using the show writers, voice cast for the Turtles and Splinter, and any common sense they just give it all the finger and let Michael Bay produce them with his buddies doing what they think is cool with no real input.

infinite9: I'm willing to give this movie a try. While people complain about Michael Bay, I still enjoyed Bad Boys 1 & 2, The Rock, and Armageddon.

Lemon_Curry: Not that it makes much of a difference but this one is actually directed by Jonathan Liebesman (infamous for Battle Los Angeles & Wrath of the Titans).

I have absolutely no interest in watching a movie produced by the king of ennui.
I actually enjoyed Battle Los Angeles and Wrath of the Titans so this movie seems a little more promising to me.
I'm probably not going to see it unless the Rifftrax guys get around to it, I really don't like Megan Fox.
I grew up watching the 80's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, I eventually started reading the comics (both the 'dark' original ones and the cartoon spin-offs), I'm typing this post next to my Leonardo, Raphael and Splinter action figures (no, not sealed-mint, I played with them to hell and back, as a kid, and I'm glad I did). I watched all the movies, loved the first two, didn't hate the third one as much as TMNT nerds seem to do, watched the 2000's TMNT series and thought it was pretty good, to be honest -- it had Peter Laird supervision, at least to a degree, which is more than can be said about the cherished 80's series --, I liked the CGI TMNT movie, even though it's flawed as hell and, well... sometimes, it doesn't even feel like a TMNT movie, they worried to much about the whole 13 monsters plot, even going as far as giving us ten minutes of backstory regarding that, whereas the whole TMNT background and lore was neglected. The only Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series I truly abhor is the Saban/Fox Kids live action series with that ridiculous turtle girl, Next Mutation, or whatever it was called. So, all in all, I consider myself a fan of the series and the franchise, but I'm definitely not as easily offended and protective as other fans seem to be,

With all that being said, this trailer makes me fear the worst. There are so many wrong things with it, especially since nickelodeon has been so successful in reviving the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and bringing them back to a younger audience with the awesome nickelodeon's TMNT -- in my humble opinion, the best TMNT cartoon series ever made, that thing is really, really good. Michael Bay ruined Transformers and now he's doing the same to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (yeah, he's "just" producer in this one, but, still, that voice-over alone, right from the start, screams 'MIchael Bay'). I'll probably don't waste any of my money watching this in theatres, and I'll resort to... "less than legal" means, just to have my own opinion on how bad the movie is.

Elmofongo: Can you name a film in the last 4-5 years that had soul?

Avatar? District 9? War Horse? Lincoln? The Wolf of Wall Street? Thats all I have on the top of my head.
I can't think of many films either, but I only had interest in watching the first two movies. I was in the minority that really hated District 9. The news reporter camera thing really took me out of the movie, but even without that it was a very bland and boring movie to me.

Only in the beginning of the film. I say the moment when the protaginist enters District 9 the whole News/Documentary thing is over only until the end of the film.

And you never seen the latter 3 films I posted? I thought people these days still like Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese.

District 9 might have lost that news reel footage after 1/2 hour, but it lost me already and the rest of the movie just didn't interest me.

If I'm going to invest 1.5hr-3hr in a movie I better have an interest going in or I won't bother watching.
A story about a horse - not interested - it seemed to be one of those feel good movies which I could do without.
A story about Lincoln - i have watched enough biographies and history channel shows about Lincoln to never watch another one again, why they don't have more current films about are founding father: GW, which would be ten times more interesting.
And the Wolf of Wall Street - a story about a bunch of crooks and the worst kind to boot: preying on their fellow man - not interested.

cw8: So how much of my childhood is Michael Bay gonna destroy? And Michaelangelo looks hideous, the 2007 version looks so much better.

Crosmando: Jesus christ..... why is everything that comes out of Hollywood these days so... banal, so soulless, like it was constructed in some design committee focus group with a bunch suits, even the trailers seem to be constructed in exactly the same way, with the same sound effects played in the same places, the same que for "The world needs justice/a hero" at the right time to put the emotion to the audience.

Fuck Hollywood, fuck it up it's ass with a rusty Tetanus-infected knife
"Chuckles"

Looking back on your post it is hilarious reading it now :D

Elmofongo: Take solice that the new Godzilla movie looks promising. And Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Smannesman: Oh right I'd forgotten about Godzilla, that trailer looked pretty nifty.
I didn't know there was a new Apes movie coming though.
What did you thought of Godzilla now?
