Elmofongo: Take solice that the new Godzilla movie looks promising. And Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Oh right I'd forgotten about Godzilla, that trailer looked pretty nifty.
I didn't know there was a new Apes movie coming though.

Smannesman: Oh my lord.. that is so insanely terrible.
I really thought it was a parody for a bit, but no it's just Hollywood raping our childhoods again.
There is literally not a single part in that trailer that did not make me want to throw up.
Clichés, lens flares, ridiculous voice trying to make it sound cool.. thanks Fongo, this really effs up my morning.

No it doesn't. I saw the trailer and there wasn't one man dressed up in a foam suit anywhere to be found. Planet of the Apes might be good though.

It might be good in more conventional terms, but the whole charm of the series was the terrible effects and overdubbing. Godzilla is a total cult franchise these days.

The new film might be more conventionally good, but it's almost certainly going to completely lack the soul of the previous series.
Wasn't there supposed to be alien ninjas in this film? Tsk Tsk, you disappoint me Michael Bay. =P

The trailer didn't seem too terrible, but it didn't really look interesting either. But I wasn't that much of a fan of the original TMNT stuff anyway.
He's raping my childhood!!!

Did anyone else get fed up of this terrible line 10 years ago? Where did the originality go?!

Crosmando: Jesus christ..... why is everything that comes out of Hollywood these days so... banal, so soulless, like it was constructed in some design committee focus group with a bunch suits, even the trailers seem to be constructed in exactly the same way, with the same sound effects played in the same places, the same que for "The world needs justice/a hero" at the right time to put the emotion to the audience.

Fuck Hollywood, fuck it up it's ass with a rusty Tetanus-infected knife
Every demographic has to be covered by every movie. Remember back in the day where there were movies just for Men, movies just for women, movies just for kids. The just for men movies are gone...the other two still exist, but men's movies has to have some element to bring in women, and there has to be a kid element thrown in..so parents can bring their little snot-nosed brats.
Not to mention every movie has the Male adult an idiot, the woman a domineering bitch, and the kid the one in charge that talks back to his stupid parents. I'm so sick of these molds.
Bring back our separate movies, I will gladly sleep through a movie my girlfriend wants to see as long as I get my movies back.

It doesn't really fit this movie even though there were the dark comic books, there was also the kids comics and cartoons that I believe were more popular.
Now Lucas is guilty of those crimes against all of us that grew up in the 70's & 80's. Lucas has yet to be convicted and will probably live out his life a free and wealthy man despite his crimes.

Indie, old, and foreign films, my friend. For every crappy action movie we get nowadays, there's a The Raid out there. For every After Earth, there is a Beyond the Black Rainbow. For every Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, there is a The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec. Good cinema exists. Just not on the west coast.

Can you name a film in the last 4-5 years that had soul?

Avatar? District 9? War Horse? Lincoln? The Wolf of Wall Street? Thats all I have on the top of my head.

Not to start a war, but I found Avatar to be quite soul less. I could count all the damn things it ripped off and research found even more....not even the big blue cat people and its exact look were original! And Unobtanium?!!! James Cameron only cared about the effects.
Are the Turtles still aliens?

That, and environmentalism. That movie is Dances with Wolves against humanity.

That's not really a valid reason for ripping the soul out of a franchise that had it to begin with.

For the most part the budget of most films is so large that any hint of soul gets wiped out. The main exceptions being films shot on an independent basis.

Examples?

And you still have not asked of there are any "Budgeted" films that did have soul. And I will let you do so from the last 30 years streching back to the 1980s.
