rasufelle: I dunno, I found them oddly smexy.
Well it looks like Cow has some competition...
EA== roadrash it better be EA *swings chain around
Whatever publisher has the rights to the old FASA Mechwarrior games. EA?
avatar
rasufelle: I hope I'm not alone in thinking that the ads they have for today's game make it sound an awful lot like Diablo. Then again, that could just be me.
avatar
StingingVelvet: People have been trying to apply half of them to Diablo... wishful thinking I guess ;)
In fairness, people have been trying to apply all of them to LucasArts and EA, too. It's only if you won't take a step back that you can't see how wishful that thinking is, too. They've pretty clearly said it's not what the group consensus believes, in the paragraph they edited away to notify us of the live stream.

SLP2000: ps. I think today we'll "only" get new games from Activision and Atari catalogue.

StingingVelvet: They've talked about a new big publisher a few times now.
See? I told you there are vicious and have twisted minds.
Well, your futile attempts to make my head asplode have failed ladies! Knew waiting until I saw for myself whether either of those publishers were in the announcement was the smart thing to do rather than just asplode now. :P

Wait, they did say they had one of the big 5 signed and another two nearly there... head asplosion still possible, but you guys are gonna have to work harder. :P
I'm greedy, I'd take both, but I think I'd prefer Lucas Arts for things like Grim Fandango, the indiana jones series of stuff (the old adventure games), the dig, lots of good old classics.
EA. Knowing GOG they'd flood us with adventure games if it's LA and there's maybe 3 I'd buy.
EA have a lot more games in various genres that are instabuys.

wpegg: EA mainly because with EA comes the bullfrog back catalogue. I can't think of a single bullfrog game I wouldn't like to replay.
This.

Well, not just Bullfrog, EA has over the years acquired a number of other smaller developers that would have games that would fit well here.
No way, EA has the Boba Fett game and the Star Wars space saga series with Mark Hamill in the lead!! Way better than those silly adventure games.

Yeah. Thread is still valid though, since we know a big new publisher is coming for the summer. It's probably EA or Square, but it could be Lucasarts.
If they do get EA, there are tons of Star Wars licensed titles I would love to have again. Dark Forces, Jedi Knight 1 and 2 (games I never got to play,) Jedi Academy (by far my favorite Star Wars title ever,) Rebel Alliance 1 and 2, TIE fighter, the list goes on.

I believe you mean, "if they do get LucasArts" :)
It's a hard one. I'm not a star wars fan (I like the movies, [And then again, Episode I is horrible] but I won't really go play the games and read the books), so the main draw of Lucas for me is the adventure games. I'd just love to be able to properly get Monkey Island 3-4 (Got special editions of 1 and 2 already), original Sam & Max, Grim Fandango...

But then there's EA. The sole mention of Bullfrog makes me start foaming in the mouth. And they also own Black & White. And The Sims. And a gazillion of games I can't even begin to mention here.

And on the other side, Microsoft. They don't have much. But they have (at least) zoo tycoon and Fable. That's quite a bit for me.
Probably not. I'd take System Shock 2 over all of the Lucas Arts catalog. Of course, I'm just referring to the graphic adventures and not the litany of Star Wars games they started churning out. I bought and played nearly all of the graphic adventures when they were first released all those years ago with the exception of Zak McKraken and the Alien Mindbenders. Great games, but limited replay value. Nice to fire up once every few years, I guess.
