The sheer amount of clues indicates a lot of games which further points to EA. Personally I want both but given the choice obviously I would choose EA for the sheer volume.
As much as I would love Lucasarts, I would prefer EA, for all the reasons you stated.
I wouldn't mind LA here, assuming they bring more or less all their games - X-Wing and the like.

EA would definitely be the major coup, and worthy of a live stream webcast to announce it.

StingingVelvet: They've talked about a new big publisher a few times now.
They did, but as far as I know they never said that they will announce it today.

For what we know today big announcement could just be for the version 2 of the website :-)

I can imagine it :

"you want to play Ultima Underworld ?
you want to play Outlaws ?
you want to play Dungeon Keeper ?
...
...
...
...then vote for them on our new and improved wishlist 2.0!"

That would be very evil of them... but kind of funny :)

SLP2000: we'll see, they are vicious and have twisted minds.
I would resent that if it weren't true.

I love it! My head would bounce off my keyboard if they actually did it but that is funny.

And I keep making references to bad things happening to my head today...
In a way, I would prefer LucasArts, because I would instabuy pretty much everything GOG releases from them, largely to atone for my old sins. There are very few games in their catalogue I don't want.

The EA back catalogue is huge and if GOG doesn't speed up the release process, it might take absolute ages before we get something I would be interested in. So personally, I would prefer LA, but yeah, I totally understand your argument. EA is the holy grail that can open a lot of doors in the future.

Looking at this with a jaded eye, I'm fairly sure you're closer than most of the guesses we've had so far. I'd hate to be the GOG team with all the nerdrage that's going to be coming when it's not EA, it's not LucasArts, it's not Square/Enix, but hey, at least we're on track to get you some *really* cool stuff Real Soon (tm).
EA - just due to the amount of games they have the rights to....

Though Lucasarts would be a most welcome addition to the catalog.
I would count myself in the minority of people hoping for LA over EA. Mostly because I missed out on a lot of the LA gems (Grim Fandango and others) when they first came out, and GF at least isn't available through any online service yet.

So I'd like to work my way back through the LA catalog sometime.
I would have to say EA for the amount of games they have although i almost could not forgive them for the piece of rubbish that was command & conquer 4. Thank god thier earlier games where good ie ultima.
EA gives quantity, Lucasarts gives quality.

Pretty much every Lucasarts game was a truly outstanding piece of work easily outshining the efforts of their contemporaries.

That said, if Syndicate, Crusader or Bioforge show up in the games list in the morning I'll be rapidly broke
Lucas Arts definitely. It would be nice to buy Maniac Mansion, Day Of The Tentacle, Sam And Max , Outlaws and Grim Fandango. I wouldnt mind to try Full Throttle too. But the clues point to EA, specially the last one...

I get the quality versus quantity thing, but considering how large EA's catalog is I think their quality outnumbers Lucasarts in the long run.

Also if it is EA I would hope (bet?) that today's release is System Shock 2.
I'll take either one. Or some third one not mentioned here. With the backlog of un-played games from my comparatively small virtual GOG game shelf, a large number of new titles from either publisher will take quite a while to get to. I figure that by the time I finally play everything from publisher A, GOG may have managed to get publisher B onboard.

That said, I think EA has more titles that can spark my immediate interest.
