akwater: Plus... dontcha forget... I know how to stabilize poop :)
Another reason why Kili Warriors are the guides of choice: http://www.go-kili.com/kilimanjaro_savekilimanjaro.htm

orcishgamer: Do you know if they can accommodate an extra porter for someone? If I went I would need batteries hauled up and they're not that light. The spent batteries could be left at the lower camps and collected on the way back down.
If you for for the Platinum Package, you get a personal porter.

Arg their website is so confusing: http://www.go-kili.com/kilimanjaro_allinclusive.htm
http://www.go-kili.com/kilimanjaro_costs.htm

neither cite a cost for all inclusive...

EDIT: That will teach me not to scroll down... nvm, carry on.

Hmm, I will call these guys and figure this one out. I'll be honest, I'm not sure I'll be ready by fall season if you decide to go then but I think next spring is very doable. Fall may be as well, I'll know more in a few months.

orcishgamer: And I'm afraid to ask what stabilizing poop means. If someone asked me to do that I'd kick some dirt at the poo pile.
Long story short... I make poo into inert cake (Not edible...and I wouldnt bring testing equipment with me to ensure it was totally inert that would be insane and while I might be crazy I am not that crazy) .I am a water guy, but I also know waste water :)

Yeah, prices range from $1,500 - $5,800 depending on which package / route you opt for.

I only saw 4800 and 5800 for Western Breach, are you guys not doing Gold?

I used to clean sewer pipes for the city when I was a kid, that must be a smelly job:)

My personal preference would be the Lemosho / Crater route, which runs to $4,490 (gold) or $5,600 (platinum), but I'm flexible if people want to do one of the cheaper options.

Once we get a better idea of numbers, we can set up a fund raising page to help towards the costs and of course make some money for charity.

I have no preference for route so long as the route is a longer and safer option. If it's more scenic I prefer that as well:)

This is my position as well (chiming in to confirm that I am indeed still thinking about it and that I still like that idea).
Is the price (e.g. $5,800) for the group or for each individual?

I'm going to ask my manager at work if it might be possible for me to get the time off to do this if I can get the funds.

Individual. If we can get a really good fund raising campaign going though, we should be able to raise most of the money. It's really all about getting the word out to as many people as possible.

And if you need more incentive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFhyB-wL2-Y

If I'm paying for a plane ticket, yeah I'll take a treehouse safari or some such. No need to shoot anything.
Put me down for being interested in this. I do some volunteer work with Cancer Research, so I could ask about potential help. Nothing to stop you getting a couple of charitys to put their name to it. Some gaming sponsorship even?. You might find a few gaming related companys would be interested in pushing somethng like this forward.

That's not a bad idea - I work down the road from EA, so I'll pop in on my lunch break tomorrow.
