Think of this as a ridge line hike slow and steady all day every day for a week.... :) the view is worth it, almost made me cry :)

And how exactly do you do that ? Is it a natural feature of that mountain, to give money to an association when it's climbed on ?

Actually the Tanzanian locals welcome people to the area to hunt animals you wouldn't expect. Lions are damned dangerous to them and the government cuts fat checks to the villagers when some rich guy pays to shoot one. Yeah I know it sounds mean (and not all hunters have a good attitude, scratch that, most do not) but they would need to control these animals anyway, which means culling a certain amount of them. They just choose to get a huge economic benefit in the process.

There are some really cool safaris you can tack on where you sleep in a treehouse and watch animals all night. You get a discount for booking the climb and safari together (I think your stay fee to the Tanzanian government covers both) so if you're doing it it's worth doing both if you have even a minor interest.
Don't they have walk-a-thons and other types of pledge drives in France? That's all it is, someone pledges a couple bucks if you make it to the top. You get a couple hundred pledges and voila, you donate the proceeds to whatever charity you promised.
Make sure they have proper safety gear, including a compression tent. If you get sick, you will need to be carried down in one (unless you fancy your brain fluids leaking out of your skull). Also, a proper number of porters is always good, and you should ask what their porters expect as a tip!

Okay, I just vomited all I know, you probably already know it anyway, carry on!

Yeah, these Kili Warriors guys sound pretty awesome! :)

I'd like to try this but unfortunately, I don't have that chunk of change that I can freely spent on unless I'm in deep debt.

Also, I suffer from severe case of acrophobia, which I'm trying to fix by playing base jumping game that I bought off of Steam for few bucks.

For those who chose to participate in this event, I wish them the best and I hope it will be safe journey for them.

I'd love to see the pictures from this voyage if possible.

It's the biggest free-standing mountain in the world, often referred to as the fourth summit (there are seven summits altogether - the biggest mountain on each continent - I intend to do them all in my lifetime).
