Me and my friends have been having this debate. They've been making fun of me because I said that assuming a female android was attractive and sentient, her being an android wouldn't be any kind of deal breaker for me. So here's my question:

Would you date an android? Why or why not? What do you think would be some pros and cons?

Uh, yes. I'm not sure what would define "android" then, though.

I'm pretty much on the "nope" end of AI theories. I woould have no problem about "retiring" human-shaped robots, even if programmed to behave very human-like, but that's because I don't believe at all in sentient AI. So, if you put "sentient" in the premises, it defeats a bit the point of the question, I think (and cancels my obvious "no way, ewww").

Remember kids, don't date robots!

For an actual answer, I might consider it depending on several factors. If she has super strength and can rip my head off in an argument, that would be a negative.

Android in the sense of Data from Star Trek: Next Gen. (And as to the weak vs strong AI debate...On the one hand I'm not sure if I think true sentience will ever be reached, but then, how would we know? If a non-sentient being could act completely sentient because of its programming, how would we ever know it wasn't in fact sentient? If something is an EXACT copy, how then can you tell it is a copy? But I digress...)
