Fifeldor: The whole "ooooooh wtf, zombe apokalyps ftw, peeps goin crazy and eatin' otha peeps" is getting a bit annoying lately.
Actually, I had the feeling it was going down again in recent years. The peak of the hype was certainly when the book was released ('06 IIRC). Back then Zombies came back in the cinema big-time and moved from "niche exploitation movies" towards mainstream.
The movie is late to the party, imo. The whole zombie craze has died down to a level of "accepted into mainstream social culture, but no longer the hot shit".
langurmonkey: Zombies have been cool since the 70s but Iately, I've noticed a huge increase in zombie related stuff.
Funny, as I just said, I rather have the feeling we past the peak in around '06 - '08 ... Maybe that is because I'm also taking comics and movies into account. But I've always been a nerd in that area, so maybe it is just my skewed view on things ... who knows ...
But zombies have become part of the mainstream media. And it looks like they are here to sty. Quite ironic, considering their origins.
