EDIT I cant "reply" to topics due to some forum bug.

I had a look at your party Homer, I had a similar one on my first attempt, but didnt understand the games mechanics enough to develop them correctly, so I got painfully stuck prior to the Swamp.

As Regards the beanies, Well, I found two in Trynton and after googling, it appears there is one in Arnika also, it would appear they are pretty common loot, would it be possible you picked them up and not noticed them in the inventory?

There is a site I linked to it at the start, that seems fairly comprehensive in its information, I have only used it for the No-CD patch myself, I use gamefaqs if I find something I cant figure out what to so with an item like eg. NAS or ZuZu Petals, but I'm trying to keep this playthrough straightforward and simple, so I'm not delving too much into it, trying to retain a degree of freshness for my next playthrough.

http://www.zimlab.com/wizardry

I also found a site, where you can d/l parties that have completed Wiz 7, which you can import into Wiz 8, so you could eg. start off in Martens as opposed to the Monastry, they also come with some Wiz 7 items and a few levels worth of bonus XP, but again that is for a subsequent playthrough.

I find the game quite facinating and there are times when I love it and hate it in equal measure, I probably wouldnt still be playing it, if I hadnt had the help and encouragement I received here, so thanks guys :)

RFS 81, I gave him the potion I found in Arnika, but, I found a second potion where I found him, is there a way to give him the second potion or will just sell it?

Thanks for any advice :)

I think the second potion is for people who sold the first one, so if used the first one, there's no need to keep the second. ;)

Thanks for that, I was trying to "use" it on him without success obviously :)

I thought he'd be better, but my monk would kick his ass, but on saying that, he's better than Myles.

Thanks again :)
RFS - apart from the humor involved - has vastly higher physical stats for his level than a normal monk can achieve at the price of no spellcasting ability (making him much more like a fighter than a monk). He can be quite brutal in melee once he's trained up a bit.

The other advantage to RFS is that, except for one small zone, he will willingly accompany you anywhere in the game. Most of the NPCs are picky about where they're willing to go, which can make party management a bit awkward.

Yes, once I had Myles whinging about not going to two seperate places, I looked up which RPC's were the most amenable to going most places, Vi and RFS and Saxx seemed best. As I had a Bard and Monk, I figured that I didnt need another Bard and I like my Monk, I figured another wouldnt hurt.

He has more HP than my slightly higher lv monk and his combat is better than I initially thought, so I'm quite happy with him now.

Thanks for the reply :)
Wasted a whole day playing because Vi had "Disease", not realising it caused permenant stat loss, I spent the day grinding trash mobs at the mines, resting and fighting, I lost 7 HP and 12 DEX permanantly :(

Luckily I had a save from yesterday, but christ this can be an annoying game.

May just start over with a fresh crew now that I have a bit more insight into the games mechanics.
You can cure disease by spell or potion.

Yes, I had 3 potions, but I had 2 people diseased, Madras and Vi, I was afraid to use the potions as I didnt want to use them up before I could get a few more, Crock doesnt sell them, so I was waiting to go back to Arnika, not realising that my stats were dropping permenantly when I rested, so, spending the day grinding trash mobs and resting in the mines, killed Vi's stats (I had dumped Madras for RFS, so I wasn't too pushed., I just didnt know that the stat drop was permenant which is a pretty sucky mechanic in a game tbh.

I can't tell you how many times I've done that. :-)
Yup, when you catch something nasty in the game, "DO NOT REST". :D

I didn't need to do that, cause spent almost month to properly choose my party. :D

yeah I feel like a complete plonker tbh :)

Yeah I kinda rushed into it, just something like Magic Screen, I will probably be finished the game before I can cast it and I have so many melee now, that sometimes the side guys cant get a hit in.

I'll have a sit down and read up properly on builds and do it right the next time, as I said before, I love and hate the game in equal measure :)

Hey, it's not a forgiving game, that's for sure.

If it makes you feel better, I've actually re-started a few times for the very arbitrary reason of just not liking the people in my party. I'd choose set of portraits and personalities, get a few levels in and think, "I don't like these guys." Bam! New game. :)

Yeah in all fairness, knowing what I know now, my party is pretty shambolic, dunno what they will be like towards the end game, probably not worth a damn I reckon.

XYCat: how come wizardry still hasn't made it into the gog's catalogue?
1) Because the DOS versions (at least of the original four games) are notoriously buggy compared to other ports
2) Even more likely reason being the legals: I think there's still pending litigation between Greenberg and the Sir-Tech people.
3) I don't know if this affects the original US games, but the Wizardry trademark is now jointly owned by some game company in Japan. Aside from that DLC-tainted Wizardry game that came out on PSN a year or two ago, they're hogging Wizardry for themselves.
