I still have W8, I never finished it, I hit a brick wall in combat at a certain stage and never progressed, I was told later my party classes wern't great to make progress in the game.

I guess it was too HC for me (I just think it was shit design personally), I think you should be able to play an RPG successfully with the classes provided and not be told they were useless to progress.

I forget the make up, it was a mixture, I do remember a valkyrie and some character I got samauri armour for at one stage, I think there was a mage as well, I would have called it a "balanced" party in a DnD sense, I think.

Its a shame as I really liked the FPS view and the way the characters kinda popped out at the sides in combat.

I overcame my temporary bout of laziness and found the ROM with the english translation patch. The site recommends BSNES? I've not used any emulators in a couple of years. I've never even heard of this particular one. Is this the SNES emulator I'm looking for? Thanks.

While things do look grim, some Japanese companies seem to have realized that the western PC market can be lucrative, and several Japanese games have made their way to our shores as of late. Two Ys games can be found on steam, the current indie gala contains two Japanese games, and has previously contained another one, and several Japanese indie-ish games have made its way to Gamer's Gate.

Yes, but that is because western companies went out of their to publish those titles here because japanese games are what they go for(xSeed, Nyu Media, Cape Fulgar, NIS, etc). That's promising for japanese games in general but I'm not sure about older games like Wizardry. We don't even have Sega or Capcom here yet.

I'm pretty sure that is the one I used. My older PC that had all of that stuff on there is packed away somewhere. I mainly used it for old RPGs. I also had a really good PS1 emulator at one time. I made ISOs of my favorite games and played them through that on my PC. Was really nice. Thanks for your help!

Well, Sega has released many of their older console games on both Steam, Gamer's Gate & DotEMU, so there is still some hope there. And I've heard rumors about a PC release for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid release, so the PC market is not forgotten by Japanese companies, even though most of them seem to focus on console games.
