I own a copy of Space Bucks but cant get it to play on windows 7. I use virtual PC to run it on XP but it crashes when it plays a video because it doesn't have the Bink drivers installed and I cant find a method of installing them so it works or of removing the videos entirely.

What id like is for the game to be available on this site, but failing that then maybe selling the wrapper for those who own the game already.

Failing that, can anyone else help with getting the game to run?

Dude, i don't think you're gonna find any help here. It's not a GoG game, and Space Bucks is not a well known game. Your best chance would be to find a fan site and ask people there. Space Bucks is the kind of game that usually gets a small, cult following, so you'll probably find a site dedicated to it.
You can try a couple of things:

-Use compatibly mode (right click, preferences, and at the right tab chose Windows 95 (or any Windows version, just try it).
-Download and check this version: **Removed, I will send the link in PM if you want**
-Use DosBOX. It is capable of running almost every Dos games. Give it a try.
-Try to download an emulator capable of running Windows 3.1

I don't think we're allowed to post links to abandonware sites...

I removed the link.
You have lied about me and dishonored yourself. Now you must commit sepukku, otherwise you dayimio will exterminate your entire family. And you wrote my name wrong too :P you're supposed to use a capital letter at the beginning of a name:)

It's spelled "seppuku" and "daimio". You have dishonored two of the most revered concepts in traditional Japanese culture by misspelling them. You know what to do now, here's your wakizashi. :)

(In reality I don't care at all about misspelings, but this opportunity was just tooo tempting, sorry. ;) )

Ok, you're right about seppuku, but are you sure about "daimio"? Because the way i spelled it is the way they spell it in Sword of the Samurai, and i thought that game was supposed to have a high level of accuracy.

"daimio" and "daimyo" are both correct, they are just the result of different forms of Romanization. I don't think "dayimio" could be considered correct, but I wouldn't totally exclude the possibility, as there are at least three different standard methods of Romanization, and even more non-standard ones. You may delay your seppuku until this question has been answered without any remaining doubt (which may very well mean "eternally"). ;)

Well, since it is だいみょう in hiragana it should be romanized as daimyō (with a macron over the o) in hebonshiki or daimyô (with a caret over the o) in kunreishiki and nihonshiki. The second kanji of daimyō is 名 and can only be read as myō, mei or na, thus I don't think daimio is correct.

This discussion is now seriously outgrowing the remnants of knowledge from my single semester in Japanology that I could scrounge up from whatever is left of my brain. ;)

I _am_ pretty sure that "daimio" is an accepted spelling and that it's at least present in several English dictionaries. I can't tell any more whether it adheres to the rules of any standard form of Romanization. The spelling might have derived from one of the archaic pre-standard forms that existed before those (especially since the term itself is an important one for Japanese history and culture, so it would have been transcribed, and used in Western communities, at a very early stage).

So i may yet get a chance to see little Ryenkoku grow up to be a samurai:)
Yeah, I agree with the on-topic posts.

Take a *.conf from another GOG game, and DOSBox, and see if your game will run with it. It should, being a Windows 3.x game.

I wouldn't hold my breath until GOG decides to sell this game, so if you want there are two things you can try.
Install Windows 3.x within Dosbox, this is probably the easiest way to get Space Bucks running.
Or.., use Virtualbox, I haven't used this myself, but they claim it should run Windows 3.x, perhaps you need to install MS-DOS first for this one.

Edit:

By the way, you say it only crashes during videos, right?
You might want to look in the install folder of Space Bucks and see if you can find the codec or videoplayer responsible, if there is try renaming or deleting it so the game uses Windows own codec.
