Paul_cz: So the mystery is solved? American versions still have DRM while central european ones are DRM-free already. Huh.

It would appear that way. Anyone else have different experiences?

1.5 patch is coming on 8th of July.
http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/48498/The-Witcher-Enhanced-Edition-Patch-Coming-July-8th
So basically patch 1.5 is patch 1.4 + eax fix [which was removing drm] + new adventures.
Patch 1.5 features:
Modifications:
# copy securities (DRM) are removed
# playing the game no longer requires the game disc in the drive
# patch solves problems with EAX and blurred graphics
Additionally:
# 5 bonus adventures made by the Witcher community: ‘Deceits’, ‘Blight of the Bogs’, ‘Wraiths of the Quiet Hamlet’, ‘Wedding’, ‘Merry Witchmas’.
Yep, so the hotfix that is out for several months now is basically patch 1.5,because it also removed DRM from my czech retail copy, does not require dvd in drive and solved problems with EAX and blurred graphics.
I just do not get CDProjekt sometimes.

If you dont have the game yet I recommend just waiting for the Directors Cut though -- info coming soon they say.

I have the TWEE US retail and the EAX fix didn't remove the cd requirement for me. So, this will be the first time I can officially play without needing the disc in the drive.

Hello,
EAX hotfix addresses issues concerning EAX sound problem, which occurred after TW:EE release (basically, it has nothing to do with DRM or no-disc feature). In the upcoming patch 1.5 both EAX and blurred graphics problem hotfixes will be included as well as additional patch feature removing the DRM protection and enabling the game to run without the disc in the drive.
Also, if you are hungry for new adventures - you can find some of them here: http://www.thewitcher.com/community/en/adventures/

Can we see this patch on Steam too? Thanks.

Okay, can you please now explain why my czech retail EE with hotfix applied DOES NOT require DVD in drive ?
And why deoren's US version DOES require dvd in drive? Is this normal? Why can't you be clear about this? : )
I just wanna know why is there such a big fuss made about removing DRM, when my version with several months old hotfix is already DRM-free.Or is czech EE completely DRM-free even without the hotfix? Because I did not try it without it.
Oh wow, we have CDP people in here now. :D
What other company would find users on a forum other than their own and answer their questions?

Obsidian.
Edit: Rats, my spacing keeps getting stripped out.
Unless I'm mistaken, CD Projekt owns both GOG and CD Projekt Red (Witcher devs).
So it's not terribly surprising to see staff members float back and forth between their forums. That said, CD Projekt is awesome and their staff is about as approachable as you can get. :)
