What?
http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/47667/CD-Projekt-Announces-The-Witcher-Enhanced-Edition-v1-5
I have retail czech enhanced edition, I applied that little hotfix to it, and it does not ask for dvd when I run it.Plus when I tried new game, it also worked normally (I tried tutorial only). Without DVD in drive.
So what the hell is this? Do I have some special version or what?
IIRC the default EE comes with DRM, but the patch version does not require disc in drive.
I hope we can see this patch flawlessly on Steam version of the game, but I don't think so. CD Projekt RED can not live well with Steam.
Oh fuck yes. Buying this asap now. :)
Love the idea of fanmade adventures being included too -- how cool are CDP? :D

Well and how come my version starts without any problems without dvd in drive, when I have retail bought copy? That is what I do not understand!
If you register the game on The Witcher.com, you can play without the DVD I think.
nice, I thought the patch was announced, not out already, I'll have to get it installed when I get home, do old saves still work?

By registration you mean what exactly? registering on witcher forums? I am registered there, but I doubt you mean that.I am not registered anywhere else. How the hell is it possible that I can play without the dvd already with retail 1.4 version? Can someone please finally explain it to me? : )
No DVD? I don't own the game but this sounds like another good reason to get it.
Cool, now the Witcher will work on Wine (Linux) without using a cracked exe. Now they just need to solve the healthbars problem. ;)
Currenty TAGES keeps the game from running on Linux, hopefully it won't freak out when I patch it.

Yes, The Witcher forums with your serial. I don't know exactly because I have Steam version of the game.
There already was a patch which was fixing something with EAX + it removed DRM.

AHA! so it was that hotfix that removed disc check, huh? Finally someone answered.

For me yes and probably for all other people too. :p

This was all I could find for patch notes:
1) EAX technology problems – this patch resolves problems related to EAX technology, which did not operate properly in conjunction with the game, generating critical errors when activated in the Game Options panel.
2) The patch also eliminates the blur (deriving from “glow” effect augmentation) remaining after cut scenes and dialogue sequences.
