Let me explain.
$60 for Americans, €60 for Europeans. Americans get a 20% preorder+Witcher 1/2 discount, while Europeans get a 27% discount. This amounts to $48 for Americans and about €44 for Europeans or about $60. Since the Europeans are paying about $12 more than the Americans, GOG compensates them by offering 2 $6 codes.

That's exactly how it is.

One extra comment. The Europeans are getting 27% off, only if they have W1 and W2 in their collection. Only one game results in 22% discount, and no game results in 17% discount.

You should also know that the codes dont apply to sales. So if a 9.99 game goes on sale for 5.00 you wont be able to use the code to redeem it. Only games that are originally 5.99 apply.

It's true. The code is only good for a game with a base price of $5.99 or less. I know that as in the past I had a $9.99 gift code and no games with a base price over $9.99 were available, even if they were currently discounted.

Can't say that I'm positively impressed by this limitation - if I'm not terribly mistaken, those Gamersgate blue coins that GOG so colourfully bashed, are more flexible in this regard.

Regardless of wallet implementation or not, it's quite backwards that $5.99 codes can't be used on $9.99 games when they're on a 50% or more sale. If you paid with real money, wouldn't you be paying the reduced price? Where's the difference in paying with codes of equal value?

Always check the small print I guess, I'd assumed $12 of codes would have a value somewhat close to $12 but the mess of restrictions means the 2 $6 codes are nearly worthless. Can't use them in a sale, can't combine them to buy anything worthwhile. It just comes across as a dirty little trick to con you once and burn goodwill.
