Alright everyone. I put up Starcraft 2 and Dawn of War 2. Lets see them rank 1 and 2! :P

grove12345: When i look at GOG website i see the theme of it as a site where old 90s games are converted to work under modern day OS systems.
And thats what it should be. I guess the idea of adding a few games that came out in 2000 is fine since those are games that may fall under oldies but still goodies.
So there are tons more games from the 90s i want to see. Like Lands of Lore and a few more Westwood games.
But when i go to the request list i see a bunch of games that came out like 1-3 years ago and fully works for Vista or Win 7. So why dont players go on steam or go on amazon and buy it?
Worse yet is seeing Witcher 2. Which aint even out. And im sure any modern day game will want a online verification everytime you play. And thats something im glad GOG will never have.
So i guess spamming the boards with games that dont fill the GOG theme

Hey grove and welcome to GOG. Many of us here would love to see newer titles that are DRM Free available from GOG. And a few of us here stay away from Steam and treat it as the venereal disease that it is. ;-)
Having a one stop DRM Free shop would be great no matter what game it is.

Zellio2009: Good isn't applicable for every title anymore either.

Petrell: Well, what's good is subjective as beauty is in the eye of beholder and other people's carpage is treasure for other people. Old is also subjective as for some game older than few months is ancient. Some might even want to see shitty games here to merely see why game was universaly hated.
Btw, I was the one that added The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings (as well as Neverwinter Nights 2 Deluxe Edition and many others). At least they are games as there are many things that are not games or even software there.

While true I doubt you'll find many people rejoicing over seeing Master of Orion 3 for instance.
Besides, if you hold true to that then the whole 'Good' in Good old games is a meaningless statement.

As I said, good is subjective term and varies from person to person. There are very few games that are either universaly liked or hated and almost all have fans even if majortity of gamers hated them. I absolutely hated MoO3 btw (bought it for 50 €, one of the worst investments in my life) but I've seen few people call the abomination good or at least average game.

Of course its mostly meaningless, it always has been. Its just a name, nothing more. For example, we've got an electronics chain store here in the US called "Best Buy" (not sure if it is outside the US yet), do you really think that it is honestly the "Best" place to "Buy" electronics? Absolutely not, I can get much better deals online, but the name "Best Buy" is a great marketing gimmick for that store, just like the name "Good Old Games" is a great marketing gimmick for a site that specializes in "retro gaming" (I hate that term).

Well yes and no. While what person considers good game varies from person to person I'm sure GOG catalog has games for everyones individual tastes. It's up to each individual to decide what's good for them and what is not. Or are you saying that the fact that what people consider old is also subjective also renders 'Old' in Good Old Games meaningless? ;-p And why the hell are we depating this anyway? :-D

ovoon: I voted for Starcraft 2. Hope it's Tuesday's game. DRM free.

And without the always on battle.net requirement? And with LAN play?
I didn't even bother buying it... too bad really, though I am more sad about never having played HL2.
Some people are offended by the Steam. The vast majority of that group are also offended by SecuROM, which pretty much everyone who doesn't use Steam uses. The problem is that GOG is the only large distributor who is genuinely DRM free. Gamersgate wrap their installers with SecuROM, Impulse has its client and I don't know what Direct-2-Drive does, but they probably use a client that wraps everything with SecuROM, or something, and Steam is, well, Steam. The point is, only GOG is 100% DRM free (if you ignore the accounts system, and only pirates complain about that. So, 99.9% DRM free). Thus you get the anti-DRM types who wants to make sure their computers aren't "infected", and so generally stick to indie games and GOGware, and hope for the day DRM is kicked out of PC Gaming (which will be when Hell reaches zero degrees Kelvin).

GG does not use a SecuROM wrapper. If the games themselves do, it's listed as SecuROM on their page. The GG installer is not a SecuROM wrapper.

The point is, it's wrapped in something that demands a connection to GG, and you have to jump through hoops to get at the installer before it's wiped away. Point stands.

Wasn't refuting that at all, just that it isn't specifically a SecuROM wrapper (since some people go bat shit crazy the instant they see the word SecuROM). You're absolutely correct about how the installer functions, though.

Amen to that!
Frankly, I'm surprised Crysis 2 and Diablo 3 aren't on there (yet)
What's up with the threadromancy?
Do people actually go past page one of the forums??? ;P
