Why in the witcher 2 i see 50$ and when i click on it tells 50€ = 66$ ??

This is not funny. I love support developers and gog is from cd project, witcher 2 developers, but this is not good.

I'll pay that 50€ and i'll think that these 16$ plus will be like a gift for the developers. I tought that gog was legal :(

Sorry for my bad english but I had to tell that.

This is not funny.

You are europeans, guys!! cmon!!

Look again, it says €50, not $. It also says how much it is in $ underneath.
But why is it $65 in Spain when it's clearly $50 here?

So, move to the US for a few minutes like several others did.

Or enjoy the fact that you get codes for a $9.99 GOG and a $5.99 GOG if you pay in Euros - there are legal reasons for the price discrepancy, but this is clearly stated in the FAQ that you could have read before posting here.

And for US guys it is $50.

@NeV3rKilL, just buy the game from Amazon or some other online retailer. Much cheaper than this crap here on GOG.

EDIT: Also, 50 EUR is not $66, it is closer to $72.

But it is hard for them to charge is $22 more for no good reason. So they just charge you $16, to be less evil. ;)

Nice or not, it is a fact that digital retailers are screwing with us over and over again.

THAT is not fair. :(

The shipping charges stuff doesn't work anymore. Bits are not more expensive in Europe than they are in the US. ;)

EDIT: No offense, but please explain me why would I want to pay $66 instead of $40 (which includes shipping)?

You, too, have the ability to move to the US for a few minutes if you do not agree with the offer you're given as a European.

Not buying the game this year, so I don't need to go to a vacation right now. :D

That is a lie and I am going to call you out on it.

European bits wear monocles. And those are expensive.

That's "gits", not "bits".

There are many necessary evils in the business of selling computer games, and distributors are one of them.

In order to sell the game both on GOG and in other channels, CDProjekt had to make deals with distributors and retailers. These deals included things like not undercutting their retailers by pricing the game at 50€ in the Eurozone and things like allowing Namco Bandai to distribute the same version in Australia (which demanded censorship so that the game wouldn't be banned there) and New Zealand (which didn't).

Yeah, it's unfair. But nothing about life requires fairness. The alternative is not being able to buy the game; would you prefer that?

Yes digital retailers screw people over. But GOG only does it due to legal requirements. Even then, GOG allows users to get around that, or GIVES THEM FREE GAMES just to make it fair again. I mean shit, No other digital distribution service is nearly as awesome as GOG. I'm an Australian, so if I bought this (and didn't go on a spontaneous trip to the US) I'd have been stuck with a crappy censored edition for almost half the price. But GOG recognised my trip, and allowed me to pay the same amount as everyone else, for the same version as everyone else.

NeV3rKilL: ::snip::
Let me clear that up for y'all.

GOG.com charges you in dollars for all games on the site, even The Witcher 2. When you come and see the price in euros or GBP, that's the retail price for your region in your local currency. When you check out, though, the number changes to USD because that's what we charge.

In your case, the 50 EUR changed to 66 USD because that's the equivalent at the echange rate that we're using.

"But wait!" you may say. "That's not the current exchange rate!"

Well, no. If you were paying at the current exchange rate 50 euros is 71 dollars and change. But the rate that we're working at is a bit different. Math may suggest to you that means our Fair Price Package works out to being, well, fair here (since 66 - 16 is 50). Funny, that. It's like we designed it that way.

So not only are we giving you a fair price, you're also making out like a bandit because the USD has been in freefall for months.

Huzzay, recession.
