Technically, it is only illegal to show an actual minor in pornographic settings (photo, film/video), artistic or virtual representations of minors in pornographic settings (i.e. paintings, drawings, pixels in a game, etc.) are perfectly legal, at least in the US, where artistic representations fall under the First Amendment protections. I ain't saying its right, but it is the way it is.
