I'm with psyringe on this one, it might be an age thing, though.
I still remember Raab's humble beginnings, and found him extremely funny then (still in my late teens), but it quickly went downhill once he got popular, with all that meddling in the Eurovision Song contest and whatnot.
That being said, tastes differ, so good luck with finding someone to chat about tonight's (?) show :)

I remember Stefan Raab, I've seen him 10-15 years ago on some German televisions (VIVA, RTL, PRO7, I don't know). Did he have a stupid song, about a mouse?

Anyway, Germany is probably GOG second customer base (after US).

If some german wants to speak some "deutsch", I 'd say let him.

The title of the show still leaves me disappointed. It seems to imply he's literally going to get punched, but it ( almost ) never happens. :(

Psyringe: It doesn't matter much though, because this thread is about a third-class German trash TV personality, basically a churl whose idea of "fun" is still stuck at the level of a 12-year-old. It is completely irrelevant regardless of which language it's in. I actually hope that the non-Germans in this forum don't know who you're talking about, because it would just be sad if this guy were more than a local ... accident. Though I suppose there are similar personalities in other nations' trash TV environments as well.
In defense of OP, I remember Stefan Raab's friendly match against Regina Halmich which was very entertaining. You can call that lowbrow entertainment, I thought it was fun and entertaining.

Would you enter the ring and go up against a professional? Say what you will but Stefan Raab does get my respect for sacrificing himself for the sake of fun entertainment.

I tend to agree, German threads in this English forum are quite silly, since every German reading this can speak and write in English anyway. Chances are there will be a new sub-forum in the future for Germans (though I'm not exactly excited about it...).

Bah, I don't watch TV anymore, for good reasons.

No, honestly, I don't think it's a good idea to start topics in German here... Wait for "Generelle Diskussionen", or whatever creepy translation GOG comes up with. But don't start German threads in an English speaking forum. Just imagine everyone would start to post in his native language... It would be a mess.
Well, when "Discussions générales" started, there was an uproar of many people saying that it would fracture the community, and that non-english conversations should simply take place in the general forum.
I was personally defending those localized communities. Those localized forums are not really usefull for us (as we are all pretty fluent in English), but they are a necessity for the non-english speaking players

"Das Leben der Anderen"? That's a good one.

What I find interesting is that "Lola" was marketed on your side of the pond as an arthouse flick. There's this weird form of racism that tends to equate foreign movies with arthouse, which is kind of insulting to both the US and the rest of the world.

Anyway, Germany's main contribution to international cinema seems to have shifted to financing foreign productions.
