tinyE: What I don't get about the Winter Solstice being the beginning is that the Solstice is actually the turn around, the shortest day of the year, after which the sun stays out longer and I've always kind of seen that as a final stretch, not a starting block.
Yeah, this is exactly how I see it. The Solstice is Midwinter, because the worst is over and the days start getting longer and warmer again... adaliabooks: No idea, at least someone shares my view :)
Seems to just be a cultural / location thing, depends where you are or where you're from presumably.
