Not sure if this has been discussed:

It seems that Mythic (EA/Bioware) is getting ready to release Wing Commander. If this is true, and I don't see why it isn't, will Ultima not be far behind?
That's certainly the hope from the community.

It seems that Mythic are working on a secret project of some sort, and the theories of what that is are all over the place, from dosboxing old EA games to a new MMO.

Since they went after the flash version of Ultima 4 recently, one rumour is they're making flash based versions of the Ultima games (or some other web-based versions).

There are a few people who know more, including the guy who runs Ultima Aiera, but he's not telling :)

So we'll just have to wait and see really. What I'd really like is the entire EA catalogue on GOG.com, but that's a bit of a long shot.
Think, Wing Commander from 1-Prophecy, including Wing Commander Armada and Academy and Privateer 1 and 2...

Also, I'd like to see the complete Ultima 7 back, it was always hard for me to decide which one was better, Black Gate or Serpent Isle.
If EA were to come to GOG the rest of the industry would most certainly follow. There are a few EA titles I want (mostly Origin Systems' games), but I want them to join simply so that all the big dogs will be here.
They're planning on re-releasing it, yes. But no statement as to where. EA isn't signed up with GOG. So right now GOG's one of the least likely places it could wind up.
I was counting on EA joining gog on terms "EA gives permission/files - gog does rest - easy money". But If EA put some effort (that is $) in preparing re-releases of old games - I don't think we will see those games here.
I think they'll choose steam, they got an extensive catalogue there plus steam offers them it's own version of drm so... Oh well, got my xcom there...

The Black Gate is the better game, I reckon, but my favourite of the series (despite it's flaws) is Ultima V. I must try and get a copy of dungeon siege one of these days, so I can play Lazarus.

Started playing Ultima Underworld 2 again recently, after watching Spoony's rather odd review. It's almost as good as I remember it!

You MUST play Lazarus!! It is one of the best games I've played in the last few years and that includes all AAA and indie titles. It looks, feels, and plays like an Ultima game. The music and dialogue is outstanding. This is probably one of the best "fan-made" projects ever. In fact it doesn't even seem like a fan project but a professional one.

I also agree with you on Spoony's so-called "review" of the Ultima games. I'm not sure Spoony "gets" the Underworld games. It's not nostalgia that clouds my feelings for these games as I tend to fire them up about once a year and they are still in my top ten games ever made!!
