Since there seems to be no Wing Commander 3 forum, ONLY one for Privateer which makes no sense to me, I thought I'd ask here. I'm using a Logitech Attack 3 joystick, which works alright, however I can't seem to get the game to use the joystick at all properly. It fires the lasers when I use the trigger but it can't turn at all. In addtion any time I try to use calibration the x,y coordinates, or whatever they are, are all twitchy rapidly blinking between coordinates when I try to calibrate. When centered it twitches everywhere, and makes the mouse drag to the side while also twitching. I honestly can't explain why it's acting this way. It's not happened in any other games I've played so I have no idea.

Do you use some specific joystick drivers? If so, uninstall them and try it with the Windows drivers only. If not, do it the other way round (install the joystick driver, if they exist).

I had a similar problem with a flight simulation and a different joystick and as it turns out, all I had to do was to uninstall the (old) joystick drivers and stick to the Windows drivers only. Maybe this helps here, too.

This Privateer forum is also for whole Wing Commander series. GOG is just lazy in renaming and Privateer game was first released here.
The only Joystick driver I have is the one that came with it when I plugged it in. Just Logitech Attack 3 USB and Logitech Attack 3 (HID) are listed as the drivers. And 4 drivers that say (2 each) HID-compliant consumer control device and HID-compliant device. I have a Logitech Dual Action (HID) and USB driver for my gamepad, and two drivers that say Logitech Virtual Hid Device. If you can point anything out there that'd help.
Its a dosbox game, right? Find the *dosbox.conf file created for the game by GOG and try updating the "timed" parameter to either true or false, depending on what the current value is.

I've tried that before, it was originally true, so I set it to false, didn't do anything :/ Except not make the joystick in control. Which allowed me to move the mouse around without it drifting to the side >.<

Does there a Logitech driver for a very similar joystick exist? Usually later driver versions also support older hardware, although Logitech does not explicitly say it (e.g. the driver for the G9X mouse also works with the G9).

The only other driver is my Logitech gamepad driver.

So even Logitech doesn't offer a driver for a similar joystick?
Oh you meant to download, I thought you were asking if I had anything else related to Logitech or joysticks on my computer. I know they make others. But why would they affect my Attack 3? Also in case you weren't aware the flaw I'm having is the "coordinates" at the calibration screen are twitchy rapidly blinking numbers, with the little rectangle indicator flipping all over the grid.
As I said before, I had a similar problem due to driver errors, which I was able to "fix" by using a more up-to-date driver for a very similar Logitech product. The newer driver was compatible to my older (and officially not supported) hardware. Maybe this helps you out, too, IF another driver exists.

So is that a driver for a DIFFERENT Logitech joystick entirely, or a more up to date one or something?
Ignore everything above for getting the stick to work in game purposes.

Go to the Wing Comannder forums and search back for my previous posts a few months ago.

It's quite simple really. I have the same joystick as you. It's only a case of going into the Logitech control centre in your system tray (bottom right) and setting up the joystick control in there. This is the master centre. It will change it for every game.

You may need to press ALO+O in gameplay when flying a missing just to activate the joystick.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks.

This is what got it working for me.

My current problem is the lack of full range of motion. If I jerk the stick on my joypad too rapidly in a direction, it won't register it. I have to keep it slow and gradual, which is a problem in a dogfight.
I do the calibration and launch the game but the cursor just goes to the left down corner when the game starts. i have cyborg fly 5. how can i make this joystick work?
