wodmarach: So rumours are bumping around the tech sites that a new version of windows will be released as soon as next year. Changes include... well not much mostly updates and a merging of WRT with Windows phone to create a single app environment...
The big part of the rumours is it might be FREE... The reason for this is to kickstart a move to a yearly release cycle with a cost of ~$20 much like Apple already does.
So thoughts? Opinions? is it bullcrap?
My only thought was the name makes it sound like a soft porn movie >.<
Honestly, MS should really quit it with the Apple envy and just focus on making good quality products. The Surface is a definitely a step in the right direction, and while it and WP8 sadly haven't made much of a dent in the marketplace, the Surface is at least one of the most interesting and most promising iPad alternatives out there (pity that our boys over at RIM couldn't hack it).
I'm skeptical of Apple's goal of putting out an OS X release every year, and it's something I actually don't like – I can only see this fragmenting the platform and playing havoc with customers and developers, struggling to keep up on the upgrade train. It's disheartening to see that MS wants to do the same with Windows.
