Told them no minecraft on the windows store. Then I apologized for getting too worked up, but the no still holds.

It seems MS wanted Minecraft on the Windows Store. I wonder why they bothered meeting with him, he had already made public that he doesn't like Windows 8 and he also turned down Steam before.

I don't know why they bothered, if a company does something to trashtalk you or one of your products after you've invited them to make your (yours and the other company's) products work better together, it should be dead for you. Every Mojang (or whatever they are called) game should be dead in Microsoft's world from now.

If they want help with a release on Microsoft-owned platform, Microsoft should just turn them away.

Since Minecraft sold a bazillion copies on Xbox 360 I'm betting MS will choose to forget this impasse. They like money as much as any other company out there. I don't see them turning down Half Life 3 on the next Xbox either.
Edit: Also, I think you misunderstood. The trashtalking happened during the meeting not before it. They invited him to dinner and he got a little too emotional when they asked him about supporting the Windows Store. I only said that they shouldn't have bothered in the first place because he had already made public statements against Windows 8 very much like Gabe Newell did.

They could still accept Mojang games, but offer the company absolutely no support when it comes to releasing their games.
He already trash-talked before the meeting, and that's what I was referring to. They should not have bothered inviting him at a dinner at all.

EDIT: Like GOG asking Bethesda for an Oblivion release here, and Beth trash-talking GOG about them using Inno Setup for the installers (or something else, just an example). Beth should be dead immediately in GOG's book, and if they want to release a game here sometime in the future, they should contact GOG first, not the other way around.

Well, the beauty of an open platform is that they don't need MS support at all on the PC. On Xbox, they would lose free advertisement on the store but I doubt consoles are all that important to them anyway.

And of course that on a PC, they don't need support that much, but when a company offers you help for free, you accept it, not publicly criticise them. And instead of potentially improving the relationship even more, probably resulting in Mojang having early builds of future Microsoft products and a priority when it comes to developer support, they threw that out in the water.

Yeah, Notch doesn't want to support new anti-consumer closed MS platform, so apparently Notch is a bad guy. Wow.

Technology that's to replace Win32 is even more closed off than Apple. So, yeah, nothing good will come out of their new policy if they continue that way. I do support anything that goes angainst it.

Nobody asked Notch to support that. I rather not go into the details, 5 seconds on Bing / Google will give you the full story.

Microsoft's intent was fairly obvious, I mean it must have been even for you - and that is to drag as many customers to their new, closed platfor, as possible. So, inderctly, yes, they asked Notch to support it. I mean, you've got a brain, you have to see that.

You do realize it's a Java application, right? As in, running in VM? And... Heh, yes, I'm sure MS turned into a charity organization and this is in no way whatsoever related to increasing Win8 popularity.
