Hey all! I've been trying to find an answer to this, but can't seem to find anything. So apologies if this has been asked before!

All of the games I have that need dosbox run straight away (Mainly the old school adventure games) but even in full screen it only displays on a small box in the middle.

I've tried changing quite a few of the launch options (From the game launch options) as well as changing the compatibility options (The windows compatibility ones).

So not sure if this is a known problem with an easy fix, or a compatibility issue that I just have to deal with.

Any feedback would be great!

It might me related to your monitor- or GPU driver-settings.
Both allow you to display a signal in 1:1 or, to scale it up to your monitors native resolution.
Go to the game's directory and open the .conf file. Change the entry "fullresolution=original" to "fullresolution=desktop" and possibly the "output" to overlay.
You could also try to turn aspect ratio correction on, though not every game will look right with that.
Hi!

As ThermioN said, it is related to the graphic driver; mine is AMD which strech all images into 16:9.

However, you can do some work arounds into DosBox.conf file in order to strech the image. So seek for the game specific file, open it with a text editior and seek for the SDL section, and modify this values:

[sdl]
fullresolution=desktop
output= surface | overlay | opengl | openglnb | ddraw
(I recommend opengl or overlay, but is know that Windows 8 have some compatibilities issues with OpenGL so you may try the option that suit the best for you. A better description for those functions is explained here)

Also, according to the game, you may want to correct the aspect ratio, so seek this time for the render section:

[render]
aspect=true

More info and how to modify the DosBos conf file can be found here. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah I've tried to change the scaling, but I'm either not doing it right or can't find the right options.

Things were so much easier with windows 7 :(

montcer9012: but is know that Windows 8 have some compatibilities issues with OpenGL
Is there anything that Windows 8 doesn't have compatibility issues with?
And thanks again for the other responses!

I'll have a look at changing the sdl file and see how that goes. I did have a quick look at the Gabriel Knight one but couldn't find those options with a quick search. Will have a look properly later though :)

Thanks again!

The NSA linkups seem to work fine...
What is your monitor's native resolution?
I've got a surface pro 3 and the native resolution is 2160x1440. - So a little bit of an odd one, but that shouldn't affect it too much.

I've got a bit of time today so will look at the config file properly. Will let everyone know how I go with that
Changing the config has seemed to do the job for most. Have tried it with a good portion. - I see some are using scummvm (looks like all the early LSL and Space Quest) so will have to find the options for those.

Strangely enough the first Gabriel Knight doesn't seem to want to work properly. I've changed the settings in the config file but it just stays the same.

Anyway, thanks all for the help!
