Steampunk (de-ar-emicus punkius) - noun - A person who joined Valve to purchase computer games. They love to go to camp during the summer and think achievements prove them to be the best.

Valve (corporationous evilous) - noun - Composed of some of the most vile people on the Internet they rule their followers with an iron fist. Luring unsuspecting victims in with 'sales' and indie bundle keys they install malicious sofltware on their computers and monitor them closely on their forums. If any dissension is noticed they immediately ban the troublemakers. Also known to block customers from accessing their merchandise and costing the customer potentially thousands of dollars.

GOG (projekticus goodicus) - noun - The good gaming website. Known to provide their customers with quality games at reasonable prices without including malicious software. They have been known to allow the promotion of sales at other digital game websites on their forums and have a very good support system.

Gogger (smartericus than the average bearicus) - noun - Those who have seen the evilness of DRM and want to stop it. They are a somewhat generous sort who promote the classics of the video gaming industry. Goggers are the natural enemy of steampunks although some goggers are known to be double agents.

No offense, rooshandark8, but your "contests" are pretty much a joke. You started your previous "contest" (Win some gogs, by doing some very easy math) eight months ago, promising "some gogs" to the participants. So far nobody has actually won anything. You just assigned random numbers of "tickets" to people and told them to expect "something awesome" in the future.

I have to agree that this looks like an attempt to trick people into doing your homework for you. Personally, I don't really care, but I think people should know about this before they invest time and effort into your new "contest", expecting that they can actually win something.

Last time was a little brazen, but as he's said, this time there is very little he can't get off wikipedia or an online encyclopedia. I don't think there's any devious intent here. I mean - steam power? That's not a high knowledge subject. It's easy to be skeptical, but I can't see the twist in this one. Rooshandark has gifted a fair bit to the community, only the other day he added a few steam keys. This wasn't at cost, but he's trying to play his part. I'd give him a chance to prove this one.

Rooshandark, your original unedited post said that you would pick a winner a week after the beginning of the contest (i.e. on March 29th). So who won? Also, why did you edit out your request to write something about the UN?

True, i said that, But that was quite a sloppy job and i just wanted to rush out the idea before i forgot it, But if you insist i can discriminate the other players and pick one person as the winner, Which i have no problem doing even though i would be making the other guys feel left out, as for the UN entry, i think that that was too politically orinated and not as "fun" as i would have wanted it to be so i removed it.

Now tell me. Would you want me to keep to what i said and award 1 guy a game and discriminate all the other awesome entries.

ZPavelZ: Now it took some thinking to invent what to write.
So we have to write about Steam Power. First I was thinking about writing about how Steam machines work. Or how they workED to be more correct. But would someone want to read that? Anyway those Steam-Powered machines do not really WORK anymore now... I mean they COULD work, if one wanted them to, but they do not want to. So they do not work. Yeah.
BUT. I am not supposed to write about steam. I am supposed to write about Steam Power. You know like GIrl Power only with Steam instead of Girl.
So the question is why do we still return to that evaporated water over and over again and is it a good idea?
Now in general Steam is a very good thing. If you have enough Steam you can have a . And bath is good, as it keeps you clean. And being clean keeps you healthy, and powerful, apparently. So yeah Steam Power exists.
Now, if you had COMPRESSED Steam you could have a mechanism. And that would do work for you, thus you could enjoy your nice bath instead of doing hard work, stay healthy and be powerful. Once again - Steam Power at work.
Obviously to use the power of Steam you need something to pour it through. And that typically is a Valve. Now here comes a trick. Obviously Steam Valve is necessary and respected by everyone. But who would want Valve Steam? I mean, really, why oh WHY would you sell something and call it Valve Steam. It is just like saying "What you get comes at you hot, damaging, at high speed, dissipates in a matter of seconds, is irrecoverable and takes a TON of work to re-create". Would you want such a thing? I am not so sure.
Now to SteamPunk (here is one steamy punk, if you ask me). What is it that makes people come back to those BIG SHINY gears, polished copper cogs and steam-exhausting pipes? Is it just nostalgia about the "good old days"? Is it an attempt to reinvent what we have today? It is hard to say. One thing is for sure - Steampunk looks awesome and it is here to stay with us - in movies, books, videogames and all other forms of art. Besides, Steampunk, is good-looking, fun and just cool (or "hot", if you prefer). People like it. That is the way things are.
I myself am eagerly anticipating a game where I would finally be able to play someone, who officially has the same profession as me. Looking at that picture one could say - it is Mario on a whole new level. Obviously, Steam is getting more and more powerful (and many people complaing that is true for Valve Steam as well).
Now, as an engineer, I could actually go into different mechanisms, explanations and so forth. But seems like OP wants something more "fun", so I hope he likes this answer more. Also, to fully understand what I have done in this post, please, make sure you click all the links.
It was my intention to run a long running competition that allowed players to build up points towards a game booth where you can redeem points towards games, so that continued participation was rewarded. However when I made this thread I originally stated there would be a direct prize. I will keep my word, you can choose your prize if you wish, alternatively I will award you some bonus points towards the final game redeem booth later which will give you a advantage

I really enjoyed reading your entry and i am picking you as the winner, it answered the topic, was really creative and unique so you "won" If you choose a gog as a prize instead of points, Pick a $5.99 gog and let me know or if you pick the bonus points let me know that too

Cheers

P.s Its being edited because i accidently posted it before it the post was complete.

Erm, well I really from the start did not know there was some "long" competition. And especially I did not know some people were so unhappy the way it went. I am happy you liked my post. I am still basically unaware of how this "booth" thing is going to work when will be points redeemed, how it will happen and which "conversion rate" will be used. Thus it is hard to make a decision.
On the other hand, I see lots of people complaining itt that no one received any prizes. So, perhaps, giving out something now would be a good gesture to show how the contest will roll on? Kind of showing "hey it is a lengthy contest but with rounds where you could turn your win into a game".
Once again I do not know/understand your plan very well, even though I was reading through this thread. Somehow I think if I choose and get a game now it will make all others more interested/willing to participate. Even if in the end they win much more than me does not matter as long as everyone is happy, the contest goes on and good things happen to everyone.
Also you wrote earlier that choosing "1 entry" is discriminating - I certainly hope I do not discriminate any other contestants with my choice (wpegg made an awesome post, for instance).
As for "current 5.99 GOG" Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
and Vampire The Masquerade - Redemption seem to be both on sale now and they together make up exactly 5.98. This seems the best thing to choose really, if I were to choose something "right now".
/removed as the contest is over and the post was needlessly provocative and probably fairly irrelevant.

Yeah, those two.
I really feel this will help you and your "long-term running" contest. To make others more eager to participate and less people unhappy. I feel this could be a win-win situation (or rather win-win-win, I get games - people see it is useful to participate and enter, win more games - you get more credibility and participants). :)

lol, no need to convince me to get you the games :P

I am not trying to do that, do not worry. Just as you shared your thoughts in the open, so did I. :)

UPD. I got and redeemed both games. Thanks a lot for the giveaway and the competition, rooshandark8! Appears doing the "Steaming" task was not such a bad idea (I was sure I would fail that terribly when I first saw it).
