How do you check where's the winner from if it's only a comment?

I'm sure you'll get an e-mail on top of some sort of announcement on the main page.

You misunderstood - how can you be sure where is the winner from? The people post comments. How do you see if it's US or Canada only? Do you check commenter's IP? The mail provider? Or the key can only be used on an account that has US or Canada in the options?

checking the IP for each comment seems like a lot of trouble. I don't understand why couldn't they make the contest worldwide.

I believe it has something to do with BigDownload, and not GOG.com

Fact is you only need to post a single comment - and to do that only a valid mail is needed. I don't see how can they make sure it's an US or Canada winner. For example, one can have a .com mail and live elsewhere, or put USA in his options even if he's from Paraguay. Just wondering because having pointed such limit out they must be knowing their stuff.
well, here's the official rules..
my guess is, that BigDownload, or AOL isn't licensed to do contests outside of the U.S. or something.. perhaps there are some countries that require you register first? Eitherway, it looks like it's ultimately because of AOL.
Probably so.
And by the way lol at whoever is having fun giving minuses to all of my messages, way to show maturity.

Yeah, there's a lot of childs play on here. I've gone ahead and even'd them out for ya. Nothin' wrong with asking, or being concerned.
When will we know the winners of this contest???

GOG.com: leave a comment before 11:59 Eastern Daylight Time on December 22nd. Watch for more giveaways in the coming weeks!

usually it's done quickly with joystiq and other aol affiliates, as xbox 360 fanboy and the other fanboy sites.

Hopefully the announce the winners much faster that Voodoo Extreme did. That took weeks.
oh er, what I mean is that they contact the winners quickly, if you haven't been contacted, you didn't win. They don't usually post who the winners are.
otherwise you have people going
"omg, can I buyz? stfu you got it for free, let me buyz!"
Or other people who are all super jealous.
Probably not the case with GOG.com stuff, but they do this for all their contests, because they give away big prizes too.
