BobPOW: Can I buy games from GOG with a Visa debit card?

I use a Visa debit card and it works fine - once I set my account up for internet banking :)
Thanks for responding so quickly!
I wasn't sure if this site took debit cards. They should explain this in the FAQ.

If it has a Visa logo on the card, then GOG shouldn't care if it is a debit card, it will be treated as a normal credit card. However, like Kezardin mentioned, your bank may not allow internet transactions until you authorize the account for it. If you have a problem buying a game, the first thing you should do is check with your bank to see what they allow/disallow and if they don't let you use it for internet transactions, open a PayPal account and use that for GOG instead.

My bank will let me use my debit card online. I just bought my first GOG game a few minutes ago. I'm so excited!

I got Phantasmagoria.
Why shouldn't a shop accept debit cards?
IIRC the only difference between debit and credit card is that DC pays with money from your bank account (=no purchase if you don't have enough money) and CC is a small insta-loan which you will pay for later.
BTW I've purchased all my GOG games with debit card.
THere might be a problem with some VISA cards since January when gog changed the comapny it uses to process it's credit card orders. My credit union is blocking me from using my card at GOG because the new company apparetnly is located in a country where a lot of credit card fraud has happened, and they automatically block any transactions taking place in that country, Seems to me they are better ways of handling that rather thun a total block (ie, have a window come up that informs you of the situation, but still allows you the option of completing the purchase) but since I can still use my VIsa credit care which is with another firm I't;s not enough to change credit union over.
I have informed GOG of this.If a number of credit Unions and banks are doing this, then GOG might want to consider switching their credit card processing company.
Yeah, when I use my visa on gog it asks me for a password and stuff, an extra layer of security. But not that much of a hassle. I would gladly do it all the time.

Last I heard, all of GOG's credit processing is handled by a company out of the United Kingdom and that has not changed since the site launched. I don't believe the UK is known for being a bastion of credit card fraud. GOG's actual servers are based out of Cyprus, so that might affect what your bank allows, but I really doubt it is the credit processing company that is the problem.

That's the new "secure card" initiative that a lot of banks and credit card companies are getting into now. It's actually a good thing, as it does add an extra layer of security to the process, even if it does mean slightly more hassle (it might take 7 minutes to complete and order and start downloading your game, instead of 5 minutes).

I found this in under thirty seconds:
"Currently we accept most popular payment methods - Visa and Mastercard."
Yes.

Can you use it with paypal? That should get around the problem since paypal apparently doesn't have issues like that
Nope. Can't use Paypal, since my Paypal card is the one with the credit union that blocks me from using GOG. In January, my credit union seems to have adapted a number of new security measures. I have tried Paypal And I get rejected.
I can still use my Visa Credit card.but I would rather use my debit card.
And the problem is the Cyrprus servers. Apparently Cyrprus is getting a bad reputation because of a lot of frauds have been based there, and the innocent suffer along with teh guilty.
