Hi all,

Would anyone happen to know if Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is due to go on sale any time soon? Being this time of the year I can't afford to pay the full price for it!

It was. I cannot remember if it was this sale or the Fall one since there was like only a week between them.

What would I miss out on by buying the non enhanced version please? Is there much content missing?

Edited for being wrong about the prices. Sorry!

The "non enhanced" version is the original more than ten years old version. No, it is not missing anything.

The Enhanced Edition is a newly remastered version that will play on tablets and mobile devices using touch, it will play at full screen on modern pcs and laptops, and it has some additional content added in.

The old game needs some tinkering to use widescreen and other modern stuff on pcs and laptops. There are no mods adding touch to the old game.

If you don't feel comfortable around mods, get the EE.

12.79 is 50% off the full price. It will remain at this 50% throughout the current sale. It occassionally shows up on flash sale for less.

Wrong. £12.79 is about $19.99, the standard price for the game and is currently not discounted at all. On flash sales, it has a 50% discount.

For the record, it's well worth even full price, in my estimable opinion. I played BG 1 an embarrassing amount of times since it's release 15+ years ago and have been running a BG:EE game that, to my chagrin, I have not completed due to other games beckoning. Still, I've really enjoyed the 25~ or so hours I've spent revisiting the Realms. Best reason to get it is if you hate modding old games and don't wish to deal with all that, as well as the new content. Cheers!

Regarding modding, you would still want to use mods if you want the community-made content. The "you don't need mods" only applies to the tweaks and fixes mods. With that said, the original games still play well even without those mods, but they are better with them.
