i wonder how this will affect cross platform games if its true that is
lol wii u is a apparently a generation behind
Well it has to be better than the original Wii, so the gap will be closer to the PS3 and 360.

How close that is, well it's not very clear, even with that article.
SNES was slower than the Mega-Drive(Genesis)....
But that, of course, was in other times... ;p

Ah yes the days where the internet was in its infancy and total silence of trolls and negative people and people just bought what they liked.

I miss those days sometimes.
I'm sure first party games will be killer third party will be anyone's guess

Agreed, and I loved both the SNES and the Genesis <3

Of course I was a young kid back then and didn't comprehend the rivalry between them, I just wanted to have some some fun.
I wonder if this is the first console where the controller costs considerably more to make than the console itself?

Personally I don't think I could bring myself to shell out for a £250 console knowing the guts of it are worth about a tenner.
What happened, Nintendo? You used to be cool.

I miss the pre-Wii days, back when Nintendo consoles weren't horribly underpowered and weren't saddled with fucking god-awful waggle controls. I just want to play Zelda with a sensible controller, is that so much to ask?

Sadly no because for Nintendo continuing that route would lead to the stagnation and demise of the industry. I quote Satoru Iwata back in 2003:

"The effort to produce machines with better technonolgy has reached its limit. If thing continue, they can lead to the decline of the entire game industry. We're reaching the limits of how far we can appeal to consumers by boosting the machine's performance or providing more compelling graphics and sound."

In some sense he has a point, I mean how can we go beyond this:

45 000 enemies all with their own AI simultaneously on screen. Having snow pile up when it snows, and then leave deep prints in it when someone walks on it. Properly destructible maps.

Yeah, it has very nice looking static environments. They're still static. If you kick the moss in the game, it won't fly off the surface and reveal what's beneath. You can't chop down trees, at least any way you want to. Even if you can pick up things, you can't pick up a pot, fill it with water and then make a pond somewhere with limitless repetition and patience. The nice looking areas have to be controlled as well; you can't have 50 helicopters with infinite ammo rocket launcher miniguns shooting up that place in the trailer without turning it into a slide show (or having the system catch fire). You can't even push a button and have the character take off his pants with a proper animation. There's still loads of ground to cover with graphics and computing power.
They do look lovely, though :p
