I was excited for the Wii U because of the return to controllers, then saw what they had in mind and came away disappointed. I never play FPSs on my Wii (Dislike the waggle for shooters), so the prospect of playing shooters on a Nintendo console had me excited :(

Fair enough about not liking it, but the shooters actually use the IR tracking more often than not rather than waggle. I get what you mean though.

Oh well yeah, I know not all use waggle, but I'm glad you know what I meant. Still though, can't really judge anything definitively until I've actually got the thing in my grip. Hopefully the big N proves me wrong.

Metroid Prime and CoD 3 on the Wii are great implementations of pointer control on FPS titles. Less precise than mouselook, yes, but WAY BETTER than dual analogs could ever be.

I really, really can't stand dual analogs on third person shooters after playing RE4 Wii. I guess I could get the same thing on RE5 with the Move controller, but that would require me to actually get the peripheral. Will probably (most definitely) get RE5 on the WiiU if they port it there. RE5 with wiimote controls like RE4? Damn, yes please!

Waggling itself is not bad. It all depends on the implementation.

Edit: That is also one of the main reasons the Wii was a success. The controller with the nunchuk is really quite versatile. And it came bundled with the console, so it does not end up being relegated as any other peripheral would (zapper, snes scope, every single light gun ever). Shame that there were so few light gun shooters on it. I want more than ghost squad, HOTD AND RE umbrella! It was perfect for Police 911 (and honestly, so is the Kinect. I want a home version of Police 911)

Neither have I, but I don't remember the arcade game being ALL that hectic besides needing to move to get cover, so if it has around 200 ms of lag between action and whatnot, I guess it would work. In any case, if they ported that it would be a pretty interesting thing.

It's Nintendo's fans that are the problem. They allow Nintendo to exist. Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars, Madworld, etc were all amazing Nintendo third party exclusives that were ignored.by Nimtendo fans who will only buy Nintendo published titles, because in past generations they had to. And of course, Nintendo doesn't want this, so they think they are promoting third party development by allowing ANYTHING on the system. The amount of shovelware Nintendo allows to come out is totally insulting, and shits over their traditionally reliable "Seal of Quality".

It reminds me of users on here who will buy the junk games by a publisher in hopes that this wil encourage said publisher to release the AAA title you actually want. Well, why would anyone let that cash cow go? If EA released System Shock or Alice, you guys would stop buying their junk! Much better for them to keep stringing you guys along willingly. Nintendo fans do the same thing. Many of you are probably in both camps. Corporations don't care about you, nor do they want or ned your "Support". You are an insignificant statistic to them. If needbe, EA could abandon game publishing for porno distribution, and not likely see a big decrease in their bottom line. A company is in a business because it's profitable, and "fan support" has nothing to do with that business.

In the past, Nintendo fans had to settle for rehashes of past games they already own like Zelda and Metroid, because Nintendo made it very frustrating for major third party developers to have their top tier releases on Nintendo's hardware. As a result, Nintendo fans for some unbelievable reason rallied behind Nintendo's titles, to the exclusion of all others, which Nintendo DEFINITELY doesn't want. The Wii was not a primary console for a single real gamer, it was an add-on that gave them license to play the 3-4 Wii titles worth playing. Most of these gamers spend the majority of their time on real gaming titles on Xbox, PS3, or PC.
