Every gamer has a taste from wich games they like but it is the roots what made people like that type a game what game you played gave you the impact to play games when you were a kid? Mine was a c64 game wich came with a diary i was very young back then and i hated it that i didnt understand it because i didnt knew the english language so i was inspired to learn english so i could read that book now im more understanding english better then my native dutch, I played a lot of well games on the c64 but i did it more to spend my time the first game that made me love rpg games was eye of the beholder 2 when i had an amiga i remember going to an old small store and there was eof 2 on the shell the picturers looked great and it even had a mini guide to get you trough the first few lvls since i never heard of ad&d i didnt came far with the game and remember playing that game at my uncles house my nephew never knew that kind of game either and saw me play it and he wanted to try it also and since then i couldnt play often then i would like my nephew was hooked to that game but i didnt mind watching how he played and did progressed father into the game but maybe that was because he was older then me and had more understanding how the game worked so i ended up letting him play because he was better maybe thats why i like to watch lets plays sometimes to watch other gamers play since some games i wish i could finish are diffecult for me.

I was just wondering what prompted his response.

As for me I inherited a C64 with a whole bunch of games. Without a doubt that's what got me started. But like I said, it was a whole bunch of games. So it's difficult to pick out just one. Elite certainly stands out though.

good old elite to be honest i started that franchise with frontier elite on the amiga then i found out there was elite but i think its harder to get it working and the controls are more hard on the pc since c64 was already a joystick that worked.

It's easy when you're more understanding English better.

You mean emulating it on PC? Well you could use Xpadder. That way you could make the game recognise your controller / joystick as key presses instead. That said a lot of emulators have that kind of functionality built in anyway. So you might not even need Xpadder.

sorry about that but english isnt my native language :)
I guess the main game that got me into gaming was Super Mario World on the Super Nintendo. (But it could also have been The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past)

But the main game that kept me hooked on gaming had to be Pokemon Blue.

If I didn't play that game religiously as a kid, I may have not have stuck to it, and like many kids of my time, I probably would have moved on to something else once Pokemania died down.

(I stopped collecting the cards though...)

(Though I don't mind a good card game. I play Yu-Gi-Oh on occasion)

zelda snes those were the great times i still playing it now i loved it that you could go exploring like that finding items that you can continue.
Ultima 3 on the Apple 2e. I played that game for dozens of hours, back in the spring of 1983.
